Possible mfi problem turns to be ecu problem

Ok My car was not staying running for more than 3 seconds... i thought mfi relays other steered me more towards ecu... took the ecu out and i had a roasted puel pump driver which burnt the board... Ok so I purchased another 92 fwd turbo ecu which has all the capacitors leaking... I tried it in my car and no start now but car does have fuel pressure when cranking.... my questions is.... will leaking capacitors cause this car to not start... in ecu all drivers are good... very clean ecu just leaking caps... what do these caps do?

The caps are important, with those dead there's no telling what else got roasted.

Yes but the board had a little oil from the caps on it.... but I removed the leaking caps and just started soldering the new ones into the board... But my main question is what are the functions of these caps???? Ive heard they are for filtration od unwanted power... but why would one leaking lead to no start.. beleive it is spark because I do have fuel pressure... I beleive Im in need of an ecu guru!!!!

Capacitors store electrical energy; like a battery. After a while they get old and leak. When they do it makes a mess. HowStuffWorks "How Capacitors Work"

P.S. you might want to get that ecu checked out for other damges;when the capacitors leak it build up corrosion on the board.

I understand that cap damage can hurt the main board butonce i removed the caps then i used a q tip to clean the board and it looks great now.... sam question still remains.... can a blown cap cause he car to not start???? fuel press is present, still gotta check spark and injector pulse..

Yes; the caps can. If they are bad the car will not run and if it does it will run barely.

It's because the dielectric that leaked out of the cap has eaten away at some of the traces on the board.

Does the check engine light come on when you first turn the key to "ON"?
