I just Blew my head gasket 2 weeks ago i fixed it myself. The problem is before it blew i was Spiking at 16psi and going down to about 14.5 To 15 psi. Now after i put the Head on tightened everything up. Drove around before boosting. When i first did step on it, the car spiked at 16 then dropped down to 12. Now i asked my friend he said the wastegate effects the boost which i knew, but i didn't take the manifold or the turbo off to the take the head off. I was wondering reading some other posts if the Intake manifold was leaking if this would cause it. I'm thinking maybe one of the bolts are tight enough. i would figure that would effect the idle of the car making rev up and down. Or in some other posts people have said that they put some vacuum lines on backwards on in wrong spots. i didn't take the intakemanifold off the car either so i didn't have to take off any of the vacuum lines back there. The only ones i took off were the ones near thermostat housing. Maybe i put them on wrong. So i was wondering if the intake manifold leaking cause the boost leak like that. The Vacuum hoses near the thermostat housing maybe being wrong would effect it? If someone Could please help that I would really appreciate it Thanks

If i put the couple of vacuum hoses i toke off on the wrong places, that wouldn't effect it cuase i don't think i have a boost leak im gonna tighten down the intake manifold bolts friday other then that i don't think its a leak everything seemed alright but i'll probably go through with the leak anyway just incase

Well I always believe that anytime work is done to the intake tract, in your case IM gasket and the injector seals, a leak test should always follow. Like you said, it doesn't hurt. As for the vacuum hoses, I did the removal mod last year and the Taboo site is down, maybe someone else can link you to something similar to the diagram on the Taboo site. Good luck.

i would follow but blew another headgasket with in a week :[. This is getting crazy. I take it that the Felpro headgaskets can't handle max boost out of the turbo eh? Good thing i order the Cometic Headgasket about 2 weeks ago Wewt. Thanks for the Help I'm gonna try to run all the hoses correct this time.

Be careful, the Cometic HG is known to not seal completely unless the surfaces of the head and block is perfect.

Thanks for the info I'm probably gonna have to get the Head cut anyway i believe its probably warped :( . My friends bringing over some feeler guages if i spelt that right and a tech's Straight edge to check the head. I got one more question i know this is going kinda off subject. Do Arp Head Stud Nuts have a diffrent Torque rating then the stock Head studs and Do i have to pre stretch them before i torque them straight down. If you can answer For me that would solve 1 Problem of why it probably blew. Thanks Boss. you've been awesome help

Never re-use head studs. Even ARP. If you blew your HG that fast you've got more than a minor fix ahead. Your head may be warped. Which you already know is a possibility...

It sounds like you've done a HG before but I have to say it anyway. When you put the head back on be extremely careful as to not pinch the gasket. Your best bet, would probably be a 4 layer metal mitsu gasket. And no, you do not have to pre-stretch them. It's part of the torquing process. That's why you tight and loosen them 3 times or however many it is....

yeah this is gonna be my second headgasket with in a week. Its gettin to be actually fun cause I'm learning a lot. I'm gonna be putting the hg on today actually with a 4 layer cometic headgasket. Another question is when people say they are puttin a metal head gasket on with copper O-rings. What do they mean by copper o-rings? Is for like in between the cylinder walls and the cumbustion chamber? Sorry for a dumb question.
