Positive cables to fuse box

Ok so im getting my multimeter today but before I start testing all my fuse ports and obd and ecu plugs into need to know how many cables run from the battery post to the fuse box and what links they go to I know there are three one for alt one fusible like killing and another on the side of the rest of the fuses

My 97 TSI had 4 wires going to the fuse box. 2 that went to the alternator fuse and 2 that went to the headlight fuse maybe. I cant remember what the second one was exactly but all the wires were white and around 8 guage. Hope this helps.

Hopefully this helps. This is from a 97 FSM. You can see what Idaho AWD was mentioning. There should be only 2 pair of 8ga white wires going to the battery post to the fusebox.

The fusebox is where the alternator comes in, 1 pair of 8ga white, then from the fusebox, 1 pair is on the other side of the 100A link that goes to the batter, then another set comes back from the battery and attaches to the side post you mentioned above. The second pair coming from the battery goes to most of the other fusible links.

Yup when I get home I'm sure that's my issue two wires got mixed up
