Porting

Hey guys, I have a few questions. I have a Evo lll 16g on my 95 gst with a tubular header. Would it be a bad idea to port the exhaust housing and o2 housing. I read this on "racing team" website. I just wanted to ask from people that have had more experience with this than I have.

IF you do it right than porting the turbine housing and o2 housing is a great idea. One of the most important places to port is the wastegate hole behind the flapper. You want to make the hole bigger, but not so bit that the flapper won't seal. This will help with boost creep. Also porting the the o2 housing on the wastegate passage, port matching the turbine outlet to the o2 housing, and removing the lip on the outlet of the housing outlet.

The porting won't be done by me. I'll take my turbo off and take it to a mechine shop and explain what I want done. How much gain is there after porting as in pros and cons.

I wouldn't so much expect to gain power from this, what i would expect is a bit faster spool, a little better top end, and less boost creep if done right.

That what I thought, I've ran my car with a open o2 housing and experienced much faster turbo spool.
