Portfueler Tach Signal

I searched this and didn't quite get the answer I was looking for. I'm in the process of buying the remaining parts for my portfueler system and the Hahn sales person keeps getting confused when I ask him if I really need that $90 Tach Adapter. I ask him if I can just tie onto the stock tach signal from the ECU but he keeps repeating "if you have an after market ignition with a signal out than NO you don't need it. Well, I told him I do have the stock replacement MSD coil pack but I don't know if that has a tach signal out! I just want to hear from someone with the portfueler confirm that "YES" I can tie onto the stock tach signal and not have to buy the $90 tach adapter.

The OE replacement coil pack from MSD isn't the "aftermarket ignition" the guys at Hahn are talking about. It's the same thing as the stock coil and does not have any sort of a tachometer output.

So will a msd tach adapter work, its only like 50 bucks? I see different brands to choose from.
