being that every time i save money to fix my car i end up fixing somehting on my house i am reduced from buying a 6 bolt short block to this. Can you guys let me me know what you think or offer any advice. Ok first i am going to do the oil pump pickup and front cover, new water pump, make sure compression is good and then freshen up the head( new springs and valves etc). New gaskets. new timing belt and balance shaft eliminator. My car has 170,000 miles no leaks and still runs strong, so right now this is all i can afford if i missed anyhting or i am totally wrong in this i would appreciate the feedback.

well my buddy is going to do the work for me, i just have to get the parts. but i will definilty look into imported engines then if you think so, i will do a search but any ideas on where i should look?

after searching I think i am going to go with a topline engine rebuild kit of ebay, but use a cometic head gasket and oem oil pump and water pump and all mitsu accessory stuff(belts etc.). The searches seem to suggest these are the weak spots with the topline kits i didn;t see anything about any internal problems with the kit. SBR also stated that the kit is a "stock" replacement and according to the stage 1 upgrade path " A well Tuned awd car should be near 300 hp" and the upgrades say nothing about upgrading stock internals???? what do you guys think about this???

You can get pretty far with stock internals. If yours arent bad off then go for it.

Yeah, i mean my car still pulls strong so i dont think im losing compression anywhere. i will know when i do a compression test or leakdown test and if its good across all 4 then i might not even do the pistons just new gaskets the head and oil pump and water pump etc. I am only planning to run 16 psi ............ maybe 18!!!! becuase i am staying with the 14b. my plans are:
3"gm mas
maft T-later
550 cc's
DKS Cams------ maybe!!!!
stage 3 Chip
Fmic
190 lp pump
evo 3 ex manifold
Dejon intake---------If Santa Clause brings me one!!!!!

I mean thats about it i already have the free mods and most of stage 1 mods so i don't think thats to crazy to run off stock internals and better springs and valves in the head for the cams if i decide to pop them in??? Right???
