I've done A LOT of reading these past couple of days and I've concluded 3 tires in which I should decide upon. Keep in mind I don't want a "track only" setup, I'd like a street setup that can help me cut 2.0's and help with traction. With that in mind (money aside), What would you buy? I also drive this car ~5-7k a year. Also feel free to add what type of tire you are running if you are putting 300+ fwhp to the ground :thumb:

1. BFG G-force Drag Radial
2. BFG KD's
3. Kumho MX

Simply put, I want the best. If I have to buy new front tires every 1 to 2 years then so be it.

The BF goodrich DR's are an okay choice, and will help you def. reach those 60ft times, but if you are using them on the street, they dont really like being cooled, then heated, then cooled, then heated, repeatedly. Might cause for some added wear. I do know a few people that still use them as a daily street tire, but i would think you may not get the full potential out of them, and they may wear quickly. The Nitto 555r drag radial lasts a little bit longer, and you should have no problem hooking with those.

My first pick though would probably be the BFgoodrich KDW's the design like on the stock SRT4...they get decent traction, have an aggressive tread pattern ,and last a while. good in rain too.

2nd pick would be the Nittos.

I hit 2.0 60fts on 205x50 kumho ecstas, it just depends on how you launch, and how low you drop tire pressure.

BFG KD all the way, I have them on my AWD best tire. Ive had the KDW dont bother with them get the KD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I dont now anything about those tires, but I just bought some toyo T1R and they hook up great so far.Ill be trying them at the track on friday.

I just got a pair of BFG KDW2's they are a great tire I got them in 225/45/17 and they are easily my favorite tire. Working at discount tire and driving several different cars/tires they are still my #1.

Agreed. After doing much more research and talking to people, it is now a showdown between the KD and KDW2. After all, it does work out nicely for each since a buddy of mine gets me wholesale prices from tirerack :thumb:

you should add the dunlop fm-901's, i had em on my old gst and liked em and have a couple of friends with fwd's that like em. None of them are running faster than 14.0 though so anyone making some real power try these tires out?? I also have them now on my awd and like them a lot.

Those were the first tires I had on my current rims. Didn't like them at all. On my car, I had like 0 traction, and driving in snow/rain was a damn mess. I went to the Perelli Pzero Neros after that. Much better traction, and rain/snow didn't feel like a friggin slip and slide. They held up for me well the time I went to the track with them. I cut 2.0s and 2.1s all day. With that said, I was making less power at more psi than I am right now(so not tuned for ****), and without many of the mods I have now.

I'm sure if I had them now, they would not even last 8 months I think.

The bfg drags are the same ones on SRT-4s right? If so, I like those.

From my research, I would go with either the Falken Azenis 615 (stiff sidewall but super sticky and people are still cutting 2.0s with them) or Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212.

If this is strictly for drag purposes, and you could care less about lateral grip, then there's no reason you shouldn't get drag radials. 555r if you want to drive em a bunch on the street, or the BFG DRs if you want sub 2.0 60's above all else.

But the Falkens will be the most fun on the street...I've got the older model, the Azenis 215, and the grip is phenomenal. I don't know if it's the case with the newer 615 model, but if you heat em up a little (not a full on burnout of course) before staging, they stick a bit better out the hole

Your probably better off finding a good set of used slicks and buying some good street tires. The drag radials are going to wear out fast if you drive them on the street.

I voted other, because I have been running the new falken RT-615's. These tires sick, they give good traction off the line under 300 whp in a fwd with open diff. I'm trying the Goodyear Eagle F1's next.

Witch ever tire you go with just remember, You get what you pay for!! spending $150+ per tire will get you where you want to be.

You couldn't tell me this when I had my flat? :(

Sorry Mike! next time you need something let me know :thumb:

Oh, I decided on the BFG KDW2's. These should be (hopefully) sticky enough for the street. Later this season I will be buying slicks for the track.

Depends on what you really call a street tire. R compound DOT legal tires are perfectly streetable, but most people avoid them because they're an "R" compound.

I've successfully streeted Yoko A032R's and Toyo RA1's before. Got around 15k miles out of each, but I don't go around doing burnouts or anything.

As I posted in another new thread I made (Couldn't for the life of me find this thread until now):

BFG KDW2 = FWD traction!

Hey guys,
If anyone has seen any of my other threads, I have been battling WWD traction forever. I previously had 235/45/17 Toyo Proxe F4 tires and they would spin all through 1st and 2nd at the hint of ANY boost. I did a lot of research before buying these tires (BFG's) and all I can say is that they rock I now can go WOT through 2nd gear and she only spins slightly now. I got them as 235/40/17 and they were only sale for 144 a tire. If any FWD needs a good tire I definitely recommend these bad boys!

hey guy's I just got a set of the Dunlop fm-901's in a size 235-40-17 on my fwd I love them the price was realy good $107 @ sams and I get great traction off the line and in the corners the tread looks awsome keep them in mind
I replaced a set of 235-45-17 that rubbed my fenders
the 235-40-17 fit so much better and there almost the stock height
(tire width/25.4 * aspect ratio * 2 + rim size)= tire height
235-40-17=24.40"
205-55-16=24.88"
