If you polish your valve cover does it get hotter, like does it not let off heat as easy, kinda like crome holds heat ??? I dunno thought about doing it but had a brain fart first, also what looks better polished or painted open for ANY ideas...

:talon: polishing is not the same thing as chroming...it doesn't matter except the fact that it looks good...if you can get your hands on a polished valve cover, put it on. wish I could

You decide what looks best. The valve cover doesn't play enough of a part in engine cooling to affect the temperatures, regardless what you do with it. But polishing won't cut down on its heat-shedding abilities, it's still aluminum.

In theory polishing aluminum does diminish the ability of a part to cool. If you take a normal, "rough" part and polish it, you've decreased the surface area. The greater the surface area, the greater the cooling ability.

Granted, it's a miniscule amount, and I doubt that you'll notice a temp difference, but the theory is there.
