i have a 95 gsx which is mostly stock but it decides to idle at 2000/2500 rpms after i drive it for a while then put it in park. it idles fine in drive but park is where the problem is. i got the car back from a shop with this problem but it was more like 3k idles all the time in park. needless to say the guys that did the work were idiots and so am i for trusting them with my car but it wasnt my decision.

the car has a 16g, recirculated bov and a 2.5inch exhaust and a downpipe i have dsmlink 2.5 and i set the tps to -8 and this is where i am now with my random 2k idle in park.

any suggestions for fixing it would be appreciated ( i will not take it back to the shop to tell them to fix it because they would only cause more damage)

I have a 1992 GSX, and I am not sure if this will help, but I had the same issue where my car starts to

overheat some times. I found the problem and it was in the rubber gasket that sits between the idle

control valve and the housing itself which it has 2 of 8mm bolts and the only place to find the right one

is the dealership. I have also replaced both of throttle body gasket to the intake manifold and to the

elbow. I hope this will help. In case you are going to do it use some dielectric grease in the rubber

gasket to keep it from drying.

my car doesnt overheat tho.

when i bought the car on the way home it spun a rod so i had a new motor put into it cause at the time i bought the car i didnt have access to a garage and needed the car running asap but the car is getting pretty bad gas mileage too but im putting a new o2 sensor on this week to see if that helps with the gas.

Boost leak test it and check your vacuum lines. If you have a leak it may be pulling in addtional air causing the O2 to see a lean mixture and richening the mixture causing bad gas mileage. Leaks can also cause idle issues. Start it up a listen for the sound of air much like you would hear if you where deflating a bicycle tire maybe not quite as loud. It may be hard to find with a running engine but move your head around an listen closely

I would start there before throwing 80 bucks on a sensor.

My buddies 95 did the same thing and I cannot for the life of me remeber what the fix was. Same issue though we started it idled ok ran it around for a few minutes came back and the damn thing would sit at 2.5/3k rpm.

I will pick his brain see if he can remember.

Second on the boost leak check. Could lead to all types of issue. Freeport? not far from ya. You sure your just not pulling freeport hill too hard? Lol
