Reference picture below. So....
-was told to put the shorter bolts near timing- UPPER TWO BOLTS IN PIC
-BUT, when I removed the bolts, shorter ones were instead in BOTTOM TWO IN PIC

Drain plug is in top right corner for reference

Which location is correct? Had no problems so far at all with old bolt locations. Do not want to mark up new belt. Thanks

Thank you. How has it not marked up the belt yet?
I’ve actually looked at this when I had the cover off and I don’t think the the back bolt matters (closest to the firewall). It’s the other one that’ll tear up the belt.

Feel like such a nerd. Shit took me good part of the day only to find jackass sold me the wrong pan. It was for a 6 bolt but he advertised it on Miller imports as a 2g 4G63 pan. :f-u: My fault too for not knowing. Also took me way longer than I thought, feeling like a dork :ohdamn: completely rounded off oil return line bolt stopped me for an hour

How could you not immediately notice? 6 bolt flange is flat. It won't even sit on the block and front case. Are you sure?

Because I'm not familiar with the difference between the pans, realized too late, I thought the flange on the mine was also flat

Were those screws chewing up the belt? Does this look normal? New belt as of last week

Just got to work so can't at the moment but surface of belt is all good... just paranoid. Didn't have a problem with old bolt locations but they were wrong location according to manual!
You have the wrong pan so just put them in the right spot when you replace the pan.

It will be obvious when you replace the pan. Not all the bolt holes are in the block. The front case has some and those are the ones that require the short bolts. You'll see it and all will be clear.
