Hello
I am asking this question here because I could not get an satisfactory
answer on other forums

even for low boost aplication they tell me to go standalone which I do not agree with

I want to turbo an stock l28 6 cilinder datsun 280zx engine

What I got
small intercooler from a nissan 200sx ca18 engine
turbo headers
turbo from a 300zx t03
waiting for an bov now

If I am not mistaken...

stock injectors are 217cc
and stock fuel pump delivers 125L/h

wanting to try 6-8 psi If everything goes right maybe even 10 not above that...

How should I know which vortech fmu to choose and why???
they are rated from 12:1 to 4:1

what other fpr could be recommended for what I am trying to do here???

and how much psi fuel should I have for every psi boost to be on the safe side???

Thank you in advance

For past experiences the set ratio FMU's make you run rich in spots and lean in others. My suggestion would be to go with Vortec's SFMU where onset and gain is adjustable. This is still a pretty primitive way of providing fuel but some have made it work.

A very cost effective way of supplying the proper amount of fuel would be a Megasquirt. You can built it yourself if you are handy with a soldering iron, or can have one made for you. With this you can run any size injectors and hi or low impedance, and fully adjust the fuel curve based on RMP vs MAP. If you build it yourself, the unit runs about $150 and can be done in 3 hrs or less. If you have it built, it can run up too $350, depending on how greedy the builder is.

There are other options as well, i am just going by my experiences on past projects. With the Megasquirt, i was running 10psi on a stock Saturn, and it loved it.

Either way, it would be a VERY wise decision to invest in a wideband o2 unit to see exactly when you are running lean or too rich.......its alot cheaper than a new motor!
