Yesterday car was running fine... stopped at my house for a few min got back in and messed up apparently while it was turned off. First slave and master have been replaced a few weeks ago. So heres the problem clutch will not engage or disengage while on will go through all gears when off. When car is on and clutch pedal is pressed almost feels like a grinding feel to it and it makes a rattling noise. I really have no idea what it could be. Any info would be much appreciated thanks

ya when i push the clutch in it feels like it wants to die on me. Man this is going to cost a pretty penny

Pull the trans yourself and replace the throw out bearing. It's really not a very hard job, just time consuming your first couple times doing it. I studied the Haynes manual for awhile before doing mine the first time and it took about 6hrs from start to finish with the help of a buddy, but that also includes some time spent driving around getting tools.

Either way though, the only way to learn your car and get confident is to not be afraid to tear into it. You'll be able to put it back together, and if you can't or need help along the way, tuners is always here :thumb:

I have a chilton manual.... I have never done anything more than a break job, oil change and a master cylinder. Tranny job seems a lil scary LOL Well everyone has to start somewhere I guess. Why not go all out and do a tranny. Might ass well do the whole tranny while im in there. Thanks for the info. Now gotta put in some over time at work.

Throw out bearing my brotha. I have an extra one if you need it

Ima just let her sit for a while... Clutch was going out already so have to get that replace as well and no cash at the moment. I remember you from a while back you was going on a deployment I think. If you over there right now take care of yourself.

Ditch the Chilton's and get a Haynes, honestly. Not trying to be proud or anything but the Haynes is much better and easier to understand than the Chilton's is.

Ok ill pick one up. I been doing a lil research on the web and it does not seem to hard pretty straight forward. But I think ima employ some friends so I make sure I do it correctly.

So my TOB went out so dropped the tranny. I had bought an ACT street disc and new TOB for it as previous owner had put a 2600. Looks like previous owner put 2600 PP with a stock disc not ACT disc. Fingers on the PP were bent so I could not use it. Can I bend them back some how, they are not all that bad. We put a stock PP with the ACT street disc. Do you guys know if that will work together? Next question, we installed it like that anyways and when I would push the clutch in about 3/4 down it would get stuck and then I would have to push kinda hard. Makes it hard to engage and disengage. I was thinking just bout shimming the pivot ball and calling it a day. The fork was off the the left a lil so I figure this is the problem. Right now we have the tranny out so before I put it together I wanna get some input as to what I should do, also the second time we took the tranny off the PP is hitting the disc. Moneys a little tight so may have to wait a while if that PP is not compatible with the ACT street disc. Thanks in advance for the help.

I am not sure about using an ACT disc with a stock pressure plate but, as far as shimming of the pivot ball goes this link has some great info on that subject at the bottom of the page.

RRE's Clutch And Flywheel Tech Info

What do you mean when you say the PP is hitting the disc?

There are scratches on the Disc under the springs.
