i bought a forged 6bolt bottem from someone in my area, it has ross pistons, cower rods arp everything .20 over. and SHINNY(under 3k). the guy told me that the freeze plug kept popping out so he didnt feel like dealing with it because he couldnt find the problem and decided to sell it to ME. As i was cleaning the pistons because i spilled assembly lube in one of the cylinders, i noticed the pistons move from side to side, (so much that they make a click sound ) then i noticed that when i hand cranked the engine, while the pistons go up and down there is a line of assembly lube left over after the piston has passed over it already, always in the same spot, toward the top middle-ish about an inch in length. should i be worried at either of these?
and he said the same thing you said , the lube is thin, and it was probably left over when it goes up and down
