I've got a 1.25mm - 10mm High Carbon Steel Plug Tap bit to make the threads on my exhaust manifold for my TRE EGT Probe. Will that size work? They say 1/8" - 27 NPT not sure if that translates to the same, although the package the Tap is in says Use with 11/32" drill bit which is the drill bit that TRE calls for. Any info?

If someone was to ask me if they should install an EGT gauge/sensor my answer would be "don't waste your money" because it's almost useless. However if you already have one and you wish to have some kind of refference/warning, #1 runner would be the most logical spot as mounting it after the collector pretty much makes it pointless.
...
Neither yours or my way will provide safe sex because it isn't what it is designed to do. It's both foolish and dangerous to rely on EGT alone for "safe sex".

I agree to some extent that what is being passed off as a gauge is a joke, compare these to a 6" marine $750 pyrometer which is closer to a labrotory instrument in quality.

I completely disagree that it's useless! Consider that an engine temp is useless when the water level is below the sender, you won't get a reading until there is enough BTU in the steam at maybe 275F-300F (major latency factor) to cause the gauge to move. Now that is useless!!! You will not have the latency factor unless the EGT/pyrometer probe is designed this way and even then it's only a few seconds and you can buy direct reading probes.
..............

A simple DPDT (double pole double throw) toggle switch can be installed to either sample 1# or a common source probe rather than 4 or more probes.
............

My guess with the advent of carbon fiber Formula 1 / Indy have no problem being overweight. Thus all the goodies money can buy including having each port probed complete with telemetery that is not available to the driver except as a collected sampling.

I don't think stating that 1# is the prefered choice for seducing the canine and implying that it's somehow better safer bla bla bla than a common source. It's mostly DSM enthusiasts here advocating this position. When these kids get out in the real world thumping their chest that they have all the info it puts egg on our (DSMtuners) collective face.

I for one don't wish to be included in that broad generalization that does not properly inform members that 1# is not an absolute based on scientific research and studies. Give a choice of a pyrometer over an engine temp I'll take the pyrometer with a properly placed probe which is a lot safer. That's my 2¢.
