no idea where to post this and since this is really the only forum i frequent here it is..i always like seeing these posts, so here it goes...

ive been working on this car on/off for the past year and its finally come together..right now im breaking in the clutch...after that its off to the track. its basically a track car with a little street driving to cruise ins and such..as you can see from the pics, its fully gutted..no a/c, manual steering, no interior, no bumpers, ect. ect.

basic setup is:
2.3 stroked motor..o-ringed, metal HG
ross pistons/crower rods
agp/sfp turbo kit with t3/60-1, sfp manifold, tial 40mm
full 3" turboback ATR exhaust
rps clutch
IRC fmic kit
greddy type r bov
aeromotive FPR with partial -6 return and -8 feed
semi-built tranny
tre center diff. spool
koni yellows/sprint springs
home depot catch can setup ($8 TOTAL)
hks vpc
apexi afc2
greddy 60mm boost, egt, oil pressue
hallman MBC with cockpit control
FJO wideband with datalogging

engine bay is dirty..had a pinhole coolent leak that sprayed everywhere and im to lazy right now to clean it..damn manifold paint cracked as soon as i started the car..used the exact same paint on my friends civic and it held up perfect  anyways heres the pics..questions are welcome

lookin good bro. Get that thing to the track. quick question. Any pics of your catch set-up. I'm interest in copying it.

edit: i see it, wasnt paying too much attention before LOL. Good job on that and everything.

Great looking car Andy. Didn't you used to own a very stock looking T78 Supra as well? Anyways, the Laser looks great and I look forward to hearing what kind of times you get with it. Is it a drag only car, or will it see the road course as well?

First off bro, good job putting it together, I like your setup, everything looks tight. But bro you gotta get that thing out on a street just a couple times, if only to say you have one unbelievable sleeper. And dont be alarmed when you get the OMG OMG OMG from the guy whose ass you just handed him

BREW :talon:

yep i used to have a red t78 supra...was all stock outside except lowering springs amd fmic...kinda like this car.

it will be drag only prolly, but it would be cool to try some road course with it as well..

Car looks good but whats up with all the panels missing?

i assume your talking about the pastic side pannels...i went on a gutting spree and just took out everything that i could...bought the car for 800 complete and running so i wasnt to worried about it...car is for go, no show :p

i have nothing but respect for sick sleepers, i love it. for your steering did you get a non power steering rack? i guess maybe you would have to.. what kinda numbers you hope to get out of it?

yeah ive got a manual rack in it...

im not sure about the numbers yet...i dont want to say anything exact but i think the mid 400's is possible on race gas...stock intake and cams are gonna hold me back some but im interested in what can be done on those.

it will prolly never see the dyno either, unless i can get it free or cheap to do a couple pulls since i can tune it on the street with the wideband..the traps should give a good indication though once i get it to the track

I to love the sleeping 4 cylinders. You need to go F-body and 5 OOH hunting some day. I’m sure they would get major ass handed to them. Just out of curiosity how’s the ATR 3" turbo back system? I’ve heard it growls a substantial amount. My (HKS Turbo) cat-back is starting to rust in half (literally), so I'm researching some exhaust systems looking for the deepest growl for my little DSM. Where did you purchase it at and how much did you invest into it?

what did u use as the actual can in your home made catch can?

im gonna head back to HD here soon and get the part numbers and descriptions for anyone interested...i basically spent like 45min in the pvc fitting isle and found something that would work....its two 3" fittings with threads of the end of each..and they slide into eachother..then i got 3" plugs and threaded them in each end..then got some brass fittings and line from there also...painted it black...ill make a new thread when i get it all figured out

yeah it sounds really nice..very deep and pretty loud...not raspy at all and no honda-drone...i bought the complete turboback system used for $450..i think they are pretty expesive new though..i prolly wouldnt have bought it if i didnt get it used (do to the price) but mi glad i have it now

That black little fuse pannel in the corner drivers side on the firewall can be removed too if your not running a/c. Just one more small thing to clean things up. Looking good.

removed it this past weekend and redid my FPR setup and mounted it there...looks alot better...ill get pics sometime

I like the placement of the Hallman!

Nice Laser, man. :)

Re-sick-ulous! :thumb:

Way to represent the VPC! This is the only way you can just snap in a piggy back and actually make good power. (Unlike the millions of people that have an AFC, and can't figure out why there car won't do better than a low 13) Plus the wideband helps too ;)

I hate red cars, but if they got a nice setup I can see past that :shhh:

Please get some results back on that thing huh?

jetta vr6 in the back..that takes the duty of daily driving....koni/nuespeed suspension..all the rest stock but the torquey vr makes it pretty fun to drive.

the only thing holding me back from tuning/racing the car is breaking in the new clutch, but i just got back an email from rob smith (owner of RPS) and he said i could do a couple medium passes on the clutch to help break in it faster...so ill tune it tonight or tomorrow on low boost (15-17psi) and race with that and slowely build up to full boost (25+psi) when i get more used to the car. ill post results when they come

thanks to everyone for the positive comments.

You think that has torque, imagine driving this everyday (yeah I did, which was crazy enough). a2vr6 turbo, 4 puck unsprung, T04 hifi, 6 speed quife trans, etc... The car made over 380whp, on pump, and much more on c16. Either way it was a crazy car to drive everyday. good luck with the dsm, hopefully I will get mine to the strip soon also.
