Anyone have any pics of their 2g with a 245-45-17. And if anyone has a 2g with the split 5 spoke gsx wheel with that size tire would be nice too thanks

i doubt anyone will have a 245/45 tire on a GSX rims because it is way too small for that tire. A 245 on a 6.5" is wrong on so many levels.

I have never seen a 245 tire on a 17" wheel but however if you view my thread http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/hangout/318310-new-95-gst.html i believe on page 2 or 3 there are pics of my wheels/tires, they are 235/45/17 in size.

225 max. Your tire shop will probably bi*** at you for trying to squeeze anything wider on there.

Thanks man someone told me they got a 245 on their 2g with no problems. So what do you think a 40 or 45 hight?

I would say get a 40, as you don't want wheel rub i assume, considering your tire will be wide enough as it is.

225 aren't much bigger than 215. I'd stick with a 45 or 50 a/r if you want to keep the diameter closest to stock. 45 being slightly shorter, 50 being slightly taller. I run 40 a/r but I have 245s.

I run a 45 on 17" wheels and a lowered suspension with no rubbing issues. On a stock sized tire and medium lowering, I would suggest using 45.

As a general rule, sidewall helps with straight line traction but hurts turning. However, on the street you probably wouldn't notice the difference between a 40 or a 50. I suggested a 45 for the street because it offers better protection for your wheels. If you really want more overall traction, either get wider wheels or use more aggressive compounds.

Just a heads up, I'm running a 235/45-17 on my stock GSX rims. It's not ideal for a 6.5" inch rim by any means, but I work at a tire store and was able to pick up the tires for free! (Can't beat that price! ) I installed the tires on the rims myself, not too difficult really. Your average tire guy with some amount of skills should be able to do it no problem.

I have had them on my car for about 2 weeks now. I have done plenty of daily driving on them and even some high speed cornering. I haven't seen or heard any signs of rubbing or abnormal wear. They appear to be working just fine. Recall that I have a completely stock suspension setup which plays a major part in fitment.

I've run 17's on 245/45's in my gallery. Def wouldn't do it on the stock narrow wheels. The pics with the 7 spoke gunmetal wheels.

I had 225/45 on stock 1g rims (6" wide I think?) and the car tracked HORRIBLY around corners. So even if you can get them on the rims doesn't mean the performance will be there. The damn tires were so squeezed in that the sidewall couldn't do its job. I swapped them onto 8" wide rims and there is no comparison at all. The difference is unbelievable and the car handles beautifully now. Just my .02.

235/45 17's here.

Will be going from a 7.5" to a new set of 8" wide wheels tomorrow. I liked the old wheels well enough, but they are now discontinued. I bought 8" wide wheels because I'm not brave enough to risk shoehorning a 7.5" wide wheel into anything wider than 235's and I'm eventually putting some 245s or 255s on when I finally get serious with this car.

sidenote: My driver's front of the old wheel set was ruined by a huge pothole that I couldn't avoid. Massive dent in the outside lip, actually tore the lip away from the barrel about 1.5-2". The pothole was roughly 6" deep and about 2.5 feet in diameter. I braked hard right before it, let up on the brakes and hit at about 15-20mph on a road where the posted limit is 50. Ah, the joys of living in WV...
