Partially hacked or fully hacked aircan? Which is better?

OK, as we all know "hacking the aircan" is one of the first free mods we do. It allows more free flowing air into the intake.

However, it has been said that underhood temps can get high in the summer, and so fully hacked my bring in more warm air.

I just switched from a partially hacked stock aircan w/K&N to fully hacked (all the metal removed that covers the filter). It also has a "partial hard intake pipe". Its the cheaper injen intake that only replaces half of the rubber intake with hard pipe (got it on real cheap though).

I like this setup better, you can hear it a little more, sounds nice.

Maybe later I will make the little walls that keep it cooler by blocking the underhood temps.

I'm one to take stuff off gently and save it, so I can bring my car back to stock at anytime. Just remove the bolts that hold the aircan into the car, and pull it out as one. No hacking, and you get an open space for your K and N. As for temps, make a simple heat sheild and call it a day.

Umm and what do you put in it's place? not 100% clear what you are saying.

You saying remove the top air filter can cover, and then how do you hold the filter on?

You can fold cardboard to put under the clamps. It will hold
