Hey guys, on my 90 Talon I noticed it was leaking coolant as a steady drip from right underneath the power steering pump. I removed it to see what was going on, and its leaking right where the 1" or so water pipe meets the water pump.

I've been told it uses an o-ring that you put into the water pump, and two bolts hold the 1" pipe in place, and seals the connection between the pump/line... Now here are the questions:

1) I found one bolt which was under the left hand side of the exhaust manifold holding the 1" water line. A buddy said there was two I'd have to remove. Does anyone know where the other is? He said it uses the engine/tranny bolt or something...

2) Does anyone know the part number for the o-ring itself for a 5SPD 90 AWD Talon?

Thanks!

i have never heard of that having problems, i would be concerned that your water pump is having a bearing failure. there are little holes on the water pump that leak coolant if the bearing is going bad.

if it is your water pump that sucks because it is a big job and it is a good idea to replace your timing belt and balance shaft belt while your at it.

i have replaced three and it still takes me a good share of time.

the part number for the water pump o-ring from felpro is es72872. if there is an advance auto parts near you they can get it for you. it will probly be a next day item

Here are the locations of the bolts holding the water pipe on. One bolt is on the front, where you found it. The other is on the side by the transmission. Notice the green water pipe on the engine.

Thanks a ton guys!!! :)

Well, I looked right at it, and it was leaking a little all around the circle edge where the 1" pipe meets the housing on the pump. It was coming right from there, and dripping straight down.

I also loosened up the alternator tensioner so I could get right at the water pump pulley - there was no play, and it didn't rock back and fourth. Doesn't this mean the bearing should be ok? It was totally solid, and spun ok also...

Thanks!
