painting chromed parts

Two paint questions:

1. I have a chrome valve cover on the way, can I have someone paint the lettering on top of the chrome without worrying about it peeling etc as long as it is high temp paint?

2. Autometer Cobalt gauges have a "chrome" trim around the gauges, what would be the best way to paint these so the paint does not flake?

Yes.

Scuff the part you want painted, Primer it, Then scuff that a little bit and paint the part. Don't get trigger happy or else it'll come out like shit. Lite coats are better. Don't hold the nozzle too close to what you're painting.

You can also use the Duplicolor metalcast paint and it will give it a metallic chrome in the color your chose they have alot to chose from. You can paint the top of the letters but have it look like a blue or red chrome instead of just regular paint. You paid for that shinyness you shouldn't cover it all up.
