when i strip down my dash of all the red paint, can i use aircraft stripper?
seems too badass for my dash... dont want it melting anything

Yea, not for your dash. The dash has not plastic, but a vinyl covering and it will just eat it away.

It may work on plastic, I'm not sure. I got a bunch of cans outside. I might test it on my panels and get back to you.

That gray + black on the doors looks VERY nice. Clean and classy.

The others look... well.. red. Very, very red. Almost Civic red. *cough* Can appreciate the work that went into it, but it really doesn't suit the car.

nice paint job. did you match your exteriors paint code?

I didnt match the paint code but i got as close as possible and it looks dang close. I will take a pic of the two next to each other soon.

Ok, just checked it out. I'm using the aircraft remover spray, and it does indeed work on the plastic trims.

I can't say the same for the dash.

That is the first painted interior that I have ever found attractive, what kind of paint did you use, and does it still look like that, or has it started to deteriorate?????

Update: I said aircraft remover would work, but you're going to need to tend to it.

I left it sitting on one of the panels and forgot about it, and it somehow fused into the plastic and weakened it. So when I tried to scrape the paint off, it scraped the plastic.

I used a black vinyl paint/dye found at Autozone or Advance Auto. It looks exactly the same now as it did back when I painted it. I HATE painted interiors and I hate even more when it begins to chip/flake/scratch and I have not seen any of that with my doors. Things have scrached and knocked up against the black areas and I'm suprised to say that there isn't any defects at all. It looks, feels, and holds up just like OEM.

LOL Good job. If anything try some bulldog flexible bumper stripper. Good luck though, you are probably gonna mess stuff up either way. Thats why you don't paint interior pieces.

heres mine, and i got enough leather for both sides for $24! matches better then what it looks in the pic, the flash reflected off the leather and not off the tan plastic on the door door makin it look lighter then it is. more pics here

Matt, you used the Duplicolor Vinyl stuff in flat black right? Just clarifying.

I'm still curious to see how Brandon's looks in the spring... especially his doors. If that stuff holds up, I may try it. :thumb:

Yep, Brandon and I both used Duplicolor Vinyl flat black, no clearcoat. I've seen the gloss black on door panels and it looks cheesy. I'd recommend flat black to anyone looking to do the same.

Lol, it's fine now. I sanded it down today.

DO NOT use interior clear coat on your parts.. I made that mistake when I was 16 with my old NA 3000GT. in the summer the clearcoat will heat up and become tacky.. so ANYTHING (dust, dirt, crap, etc.) will stick in the clearcoat and bond with it

I hope this thread isn't dead yet.

What kinda of paint do you do your dash with for that clean glossy fiberglass look?
It is car/auto paint right? Can somebody post step by step or a technique for this?

Thanks.
