dude you can use anything your heart desires to clean that intercooler just as long as it disolves oil. i pesonally use gasoline and have to clean it every 4 months. be besure you rinse the thing out and spray it out with compressed air. you don't have that you say then use a blower drier set on cool and duct tape it to pipe of the intercooler let it run for while to blow out some of the vapors, people say don't use gasoline becuase its dangerous, maybe if you smoke while doing it or do something dumb like that it just might be. but yes paint thinner will be fine. just besure to rinse it out good after words and dry it before putting it on the car.

I'm not sure if it would be safe but when I cleaned mine I filled a 1 gallon iced tea jug up with the cheapest gas( i know its illegal to fill up but oh well) anyways, It only cost 1.78 or something for the gallon of gas and as I was cleaning it I noticed all the black coming out. By the time the gallon of gasoline was gone it was coming out clear! Paint thinner is pretty strong I know that much. Actually, If you could use thinner to clean paint guns I dont see why you cant clean your intercooler with it(just make sure it dries all the way) I know it eats plastic and that kinda garbage....

Paint thinner should work pretty well. All I'd add is that there's no need to panic about getting it dry, the motor's going to suck through much more air than anything you'll be hooking up to it, and what little "contaminants" you might pass through will be in such small measure as to be harmless.
True that gasoline will work about the best, it's just hugely dangerous.

you don't exactly want to put the intercooler on then go out for that spin at full boost with gas vapors in there. not a good idea

bro, I wans't even talking about gas vapors getting into the intake(your post), I was just letting him know(if he didn't already) that paint thinner would evaporate faster than gasoline. Sorry if you took it the wrong way, I was just trying to put my 2 ccents in on paint thinner because that's what the post was about. I know you know what you're talking about because I've seen your posts before so don't think I was tryin to downplay your comments.
just thought I'd clear that up, I hate to offend people :( :dsm:

I'd hate for you to, as well.

Is it the goddamned weather? Why is every other topic turning into a bitchfest? Do you need to go play outside?

Knock off the goddamned personal confrontations, petty bickering, bitching at one another, making fun and just being assholes.

You're on DSMtuners now. You have an obligation to comport yourselves in a manner fitting the calibre of the board.
