Paint Issues

I just recently bought an eclipse gst in almost perfect condition, wich anyone who owns an eclipse knows its not that easy to find a "clean" used eclipse. So I am washing my car about a week after I got it and I notice that the side skirts are a different color red than the rest of the car. I also notice that they are plastic while the rest of the car is metal. So I have tried waxing them to get the faded look out of them but its not working. Does anyone else have this problem, or a solution to it?

Don't worry they're supposed to be Plastic.

And as far as the fading goes, try some light rubbing compound, a damp cloth, and give um a good once over (or twice) let dry, then wipe off.

They're lower in the car and may have just been exposed to more crap. And well it is plastic

The bumper covers are urethane, the side skirts, rear spoiler, and instrument panel are poly phenylene ether, the inner fenders are high-density polyethylene, the headlights are polycarbonate, the A-pillars, side window trim and grille under the wipers are talc-filled polypropylene, the inside rear-view mirror, lower liftgate trim, rear cargo trim, and bumper reinforcements are polypropylene, the door handles are polycarbonate/poly butylene terephthalate, and the side mirrors and liftgate trim are acrylonitrile butadiene styrene.

I think there's more plastic than metal in DSMs, by area.

There's a good chance your sideskirts have been replaced and repainted, or installed from another car. Go gingerly with any rubbing compounds.

I know nothing has been replaced or repainted because I know the person who sold it to me. So I will just go ahead with some compounds.
