I was wanting to paint the plastic on the dash and door handles. I search for a how to on this but didn't see anything. if someone knows where it is please post it. sorry if this is a repost.

do you want to know hwo to take them off or how to paint the m.... to pain get some krylon pastic paint and a sanding spounge ( fine ) sand the plastics down slightly and then paint with a few coats and let dry simple as that . If you need to know how to take things out , all of the plastics just pull out except around the door handle . there is one screw on each side under a small plastic clip thats it

No that is not a good way of doing it.

What you want to do is scuff all the plastics with sandpaper. After that you degrease them. Then, you spray them with adhesion promotor....its like a primer for plastics that goes on clear. Dupli-Color makes it. It works very very well.

Once you're done that, spray them with some plastic paint. Then clear coat everything for durability.

I agree with 604, excpet I'm going to take it one step further. Here is the product that you want!!!! Amazon.com: SEM Sand Free Adhesion Promoter: Automotive

I used this on a pair of tan bucket seats in my 81 Camaro (I know, it was before I knew what an Import was, and long before the DSMs started to rule the roads....) However, I painted my tan seats black to match the rest of the interior. These seats lasted 3 years in my daily driver, and NEVER flaked or showed any sort of wear.

This is a MUST HAVE for anyone that wants to get a good quality adhesion to plastic!

Exactly right!! Now be carefull on the tempature of the area you do this in. I have done it several times and the adhesion promotor I have used in a colder garage made it really blochy looking. Just an FYI. Good luck!!

I've painted a lot of plastic in my garage.

Make sure to get the floor wet, have good lighting and make sure it's not too cold or humid.

2 coats adhesion promotor (5 min between coats)
3 light coats of plastic paint (spray 5 min after you've sprayed the adhesion promotor, and wait 1 hour between coats of paint)
2 light coats of clear (spray 4 hours after you've applied your last coat of paint, and wait 1 hour between coats of clear)

This is the formula I have used with no problems whatsover.
