Paint in Ohio

I live in Chagrin Falls Ohio and my car would love a nice paint job. This morning my dad and I went out to four shops that paint cars to get quotes for a color change and minor body work. Each quote was +$3000, seeing as I'm a kid working in a grocery store this is just about twice my budget for paint. If anyone knows any places in Ohio that paint cars and do a good prep job it would be greatly appreciated. I know that prepping the car for paint myself would greatly reduce the cost, but honestly I do not want to attempt this, I really dont want to damage the car in an attempt to save money. If anyone knows a place please help me. Thanks.

Also....you need to really be careful about prepping. I helped a freind of mine when I was in the Marines do the body work on his Mustang ( ). Prior to him joining the military....he had been a professional body worker. His plan was to reduce the cost by doing the work himself. We spent 6 days working on the car to prep it. When he took it there......they refused to paint it. There was concern on the quality of HIS work....and they would not paint over repairs that they did not do themselves.


He eventually found another spot....but ....he asked them and they said the same thing. If they dont feel confident the work is done good enough....they wont paint over it. Thier work is the only work seen by people looking at the car. A poor bondo job sticks out like a soar thumb....and regardless of how good the paint looks that car will look crappy.

If you find a place you like....PLEASE make sure they will let yuo do your own work and then still paint the car afterwards.

i doubt you would want to drive to canton but there is a place around here called mcmillen and they are pretty good.
