well i went to wash my car today and i found all these rust looking spots. i dont think they are rust, maybe from the tree because they do come off. however it is VERY hard to take them off and there is alot on my trunk and on top my my car. i wanna know the best way to remove these "spots". i was thinking a power tool with a buffer on it. just not sure if the buffer will destroy the paint. or should i sand it down and repaint the bad spots?

i would sugest a clay bar but its hard to know if that would work with out looking at them myself. i dont sugest sanding the spots down and repainting unless you know someone who is very good at color matching and blending.

srry if they are not that clear. also i took my car to a shop to fix the window motor and door handle. they replaced the door handle and repainted it and the paint looks like the rest of the car.

If its the tree I am thinking of (can not rember the name) your going to have a heck of a time getting that off. But the fruit that caused those stains taste great LOL.

Edit: The tree I am thinking of is a mulberry tree.

First cut down that dead tree that your car shows in the reflection before it drops a present on your roof.

Then try bug and tar remover. once you get it off clay the car then give it a good wax and enjoy for a year.

the only tree near my car is like 2 car spaces away and it isent that dead, only reason it looks dead is there a drought in NJ. also there is no fruit trees by my car, only some bushes infront. i will post pics tomorrow of what i part by before i go to work.

i'm not noticing anything with my paint but thought id ask anyways...

theres 2 trees near me...
the closest is one of those that when the leaves fall off they float like little helicopter propellers (not sure what theyre called)
the second (about 3 car lengths away) is a pear tree.

What about those trees?

Do post, I'll let you know what I see. It really may be an issue.

Propeller-copters are necessarily maple trees, Kanuck! They are the seeds. If they are sugar maples (Acer Sacharrum), no problem. If they are silver maples (acer saccharhinium), move your car before the tree falls on your car! The helicopters won't hurt your car, unless you let them settle in the spaces between body-panels. There, they will hold moisture, and cause rust. If they're falling now, they're sugar maple/hard maple. The one on your flag. If they fall in April/May, they are silver/Norway/ or Red maple. Red Maple seeds are tiny, compared to the other species I've listed.

Pear trees... Ornamental, or fruit-bearing? Ornamental pears will also fall-over on your car, if they are "Bradford" pears. Ask the nearest old-people. They usually know that kind of crap.

You can post pics, too. I'll try to tell you.

Please do not use the magic eraser as posted above. Please use some type of clay bar kit to remove. Wash car, spray quick detailer liberally, flatten out clay and work it (not a lot of pressure) in north south, east west until removed. NO CIRCLES.

Then wax or use a quality sealant.
