Does your pump make any out of the ordinary noises when you turn the steering wheel left or right? If you take out your ps pump and lines then you can loop the inlet and outlet line coming from the power steering rack and run it that way. There has to be ps fluid in the rack when you loop the lines though.
My ps rack has been modified and has grease in it instead of ps fluid and it works well BUT, the car is hard to turn in the parking lot. I don't recommend you remove your power steering system just because of what I said above. I live with the hassle and it makes my car not so fun to drive all for the sake of weight savings and making the engine bay look cleaner. It's all up to you but if it was me I would just fix the problem by hunting down a power steering pump in the junk yard or classifieds. That's if its actually a bad pump.
you could find the radio mount at junkyard, mitsu dealers(expensive),buy from someone on classified ads.
as far as the strut versus sway bars.strut bar is used to stabilize and keep strut towers more rigid.sway bars are connected in front and rear both to end links which are connected to lower control arms.
hope that helps
