Paint costs

My Talons paint is royally screwed thanks to the owner before me who got a 300 dollar macho paint job thats got clear coat chipping on the bumper and paint drips everywhere So im curious what you all have paid for a paint job, i want to turn my Talon to dark silver

Me and the hubby painted my car ourselves. I'd say we probably spent a grand total of $500 give or take on paint and materials.

Painted my own under 200 bucks for paint and materials, cheap gun, no show car but im happy, almost finished.

Just got all the supplies together for my paint job. Red base coat/clear coat. $300 for red base alone. Clear, primer, masking paper, masking tape, sand paper, wax/grease remover, reducer, guide coat, hardner ran another $350.

Then I'll need more paper for polishing the clear, some Mequairs M105 & 205 polishing compound, probably another $100, Looking at around $750 for a DIY paint job.

Of course there is cheaper paints/supplies out there but this is a lot of work just getting it ready to paint. Not going to chance wasting it with the bottom tier supplies.

Man it all depends on what you want, how much is to be painted, and what kind/color/type of paint you're wanting. my dad owns an auto body shop and we completely changed my car from white to black. so this is going to take more research and information to get a good answer. it could be anywhere from $200 DIY to $2000 for a pro job. More info and pics would be great if you could get some...and if it is a DIY, SANDING is one of the most important things. getting your pre-paint surface to a high grit is the best way to avoid paint and clear coat flaking and stripping, and to get your surface looking clean and smooth.
