Hello I'm a new owner of a 97 gsx that is pretty much almost all stock. Anyway I was driving home from work the other day and a few miles from home my alternator belt shredded the car stuttered for a minute and the cel came on.
So i limped it home, changed the belt, read the code as P0340 cam angle sensor, which I'm new to the DSM's but on a 97 I know thats no where near the Alt. I reset the light and it drove fine for a few days, then stuttered and threw the light again. I've done a bunch of searching on this and found nothing similar. I have no other problems, like it not wanting to start like it seems you get with that code, but I hate when my car isn't running right all the time so I want to get this figured out.
Other than the fact of an occasional hiccup while under accelaration or just cruising at speed the car is acting fine, no idle problems, starts fine. It happened almost as the same time as the alt. belt snapping. I dont think it would have jumped timing cause it has no idle issues.
I'm a former Honda/Acura owner so I'm still getting to know this car. Was it a crazy coincidence or is there a problem I'm overlooking. Thanks to all,

Go to autozone and have it cleared and dont worry about it unless it comes back, the end.:dsm:
I disagree, everytime the alternator belt snaps, besides obvious signs of old age, the crank pulley should always be checked for separation. I would also suggest checking the senor itself and make sure it's not physically damaged. If it is then.....well post back.

I checked the sensor today for any visible sign of damage and to check the connection and everything seemed fine. It wouldn't have any wires running to the ecu that run in the area of the Alt. that couldve been damaged?

Our damn rain is back and so i havent been able to dig to much in it, but i'll check on that pulley.

Dont bring me down bruce, dont bring me down. LOL I guess of course it would'nt hurt to check things in the general area, but I assume he has done that on his own already.

Well now i cant even get the car to start or even turn over and now its giving me a p0335 for the crank sensor, what happened it was perfect this time last week. I dont know if my ears are deceiving me, but when i try to start it, it seems like i hear a starter motor in the back of the car, like i said i'm a newbie so i have know idea on these cars. If i replace both sensors should it be able to start. I want to get rid of my Integra but now i guess i got to hold on to it a little longer damn it.
