Hello I'm a new owner of a 97 gsx that is pretty much almost all stock. Anyway I was driving home from work the other day and a few miles from home my alternator belt shredded the car stuttered for a minute and the cel came on.
So i limped it home, changed the belt, read the code as P0340 cam angle sensor, which I'm new to the DSM's but on a 97 I know thats no where near the Alt. I reset the light and it drove fine for a few days, then stuttered and threw the light again. I've done a bunch of searching on this and found nothing similar. I have no other problems, like it not wanting to start like it seems you get with that code, but I hate when my car isn't running right all the time so I want to get this figured out.
Other than the fact of an occasional hiccup while under accelaration or just cruising at speed the car is acting fine, no idle problems, starts fine. It happened almost as the same time as the alt. belt snapping. I dont think it would have jumped timing cause it has no idle issues.
I'm a former Honda/Acura owner so I'm still getting to know this car. Was it a crazy coincidence or is there a problem I'm overlooking. Thanks to all,

I guess of course it would'nt hurt to check things in the general area, but I assume he has done that on his own already.
