Last week, my 97 GST started running crappy -definitely feels like a misfire. Took it in, and pulled a p0304. The shop I took it to recommended changing the plugs and wires, which I did. The car ran fine for a couple of days, after which it started to have the cylinder misfire! I replaced the 1/4 ignition coil, but that did not help at all. I also noticed that when the engine is cold, it seems to run fine, but the warmer it gets it then starts to misfire. I took it into the shop this morning (drove fine on the way over) and was told that it pulled:

0301 - Cylinder Misfire 1
0201 - Injector 1 Malfunction
0335 - Crank Position Sensor

Shop quoted a price for a diagnostic of $178, but before that I wanted to get the opinion of the community. I know it probably needs the fuel filter replaced, but are there other problems that you guys think this might be indicative of? Also, I have thought about the transistor module as well, but can't find out the part number for 97-99 turbos. Any help would be greatly appreciated - you guys rock!

Do you have or know anyone with a logger you could use? It'd be interesting to see where the fuel trims are.

Have you checked the coolant temperature sensor? Have you looked for vacuum leaks or done a BLT? Did the coil you replaced test out as bad? Are your new plugs turning black/tan/white yet?

as stupid as it may sound I had Injector #4 malfunction and it turned out to be the injector clip wasn't on all the way/ was disconnected causing my CEL...may want to check there....

Cylinder 4 is fine now, after the plug wire upgrade. However, after that, it was reset and a few days later threw the three codes above. I drove my wife to work this morning for ~10 min in ~32 degree weather, and it ran perfectly on a cold block. I've got to go pick her up and will see if the same thing happens. It seems that temp is affecting this more than anything, which really confuses me.

No logger to be had. I haven't checked any of these things - which would you start with first?

My car is having the exact same problem. I'm not having the crank sensor code being thrown though. It only happens after the car has warmed up and everything. My question is what's a BLT test?

Soooooo - did some research on the vfaq, like a good li'l dsmer, and read about the "warm start" problem. Went and cleaned my throttle body with a bunch of carb cleaner, and what do you know, two days without rough idle or engine misfire! I still have a CEL code, though, so I may go to AutoZone this weekend to get those pulled and checked out. Just to clarify resetting the CEL - pulling the neg battery terminal works fine for this, right?

what was the name of the article because i am having a similar problem mine does a ridiculous idle surge and throws a p0335 code after the car warms up

Maybe in your city autozone dont do global obd2 scans. I know of atleast 2 or 3 dozen autozones, advance auto's, etc that still do it around where I'm at. I actually just called a friend that works at an Auto Zone and he says there shouldn't be any reason for them to stop. Any who, also check possibly Injector Resistor Box??
