Alright like the title says, every other day the car throws this code at me. This happened after my cam install. I double checked the timing, the plugs are new, wires only have 10xxx miles on them. I tested the coil pack with a multimeter and it checked out good. I ended up taking the car to a shop here in town and all they had to tell me was they didn't know what was causing it. Any ideas?

It's a freaking epidemic!

Tune into the other half dozen P0300 threads for more info and some sort of direction to solving this kind of issue.

Theres more out there, too. Have fun.

This only happened after you installed cams though? What cams are they?
I can't help but to think that its related to the recent work done to the car.

If I were you I would take it to Mitsubishi and have it checked out by a professional.

For an insane premium when it could be potentially solved without spending hardly any money. I have a feeling that the fine folk at the dealer might tell him exactly what the other mechanic told him.

I agree that if something was recently changed out before this started happening there is a problem with either the part installed, something that part directly effects, or something got damaged during installation.

I have read many of those other threads already. Most of them are problems with the car misfiring while driving, as compared to my situation where it only happens at idle. I agree with diablos in thinking that the dealer would end up saying the same thing to me. The cams are the DKS 264/272 combo. I know the timing is dead on, but couldn't the cam timing still be off? I'm starting to think about looking into getting the cams degreed. Since when i did my rebuild, the head was decked along with the block, which could throw off cam timing. Then throw in the new cams and the cam timing could be even more out of wack. Please let me know if my thinking is completly off base.

Oh I also did a compression test after the install on a warm motor, 180,180,165,180. A week before the install the car had 180 on all 4 cylinders but now one is down 15psi. I haven't looked into it too much since it is still within the safe operating numbers according to the manual.

WTF this is really getting rediculous. it must be something in the air causing all these po300's. if you somehow bumped the CAS pretty hard during the cam install that might be your problem. i put a new CAS on mine yesterday. i had gotten a used junkyard one a couple days ago and i didnt need it so i tapped it on the concrete in my shop lightly and tested it again and the thing tested bad. so apparently they cant take much abuse.

I'm planning on installing a 1g cas on the car so I can adjust my timing. I really don't feel like pulling the cam gear off to install a new 95-96 cas, especially since i put a new one in there when i rebuilt the car 10xxx miles ago.
