Overheating??

Having this weird issue. I'm not too worried yet. I just recently got my car back from my shop. Added new injectors, t28 turbo, BC stage 2 cams/ gears and 3in exhaust, FP manifold with heat shield. Its tuned for my old setup but not for the aforementioned mods. Car drives fine just for cruising. No issues.
My driveway has 3 cars in it including the eclipse. I gotta squeeze it in so I'm constantly backing up and moving forward to get it into its spot. I noticed when I do this my engine temps get to 207. Then once it's in her spot and I let it run for a few mins before shutting it off , it finds it's way back down to 190-193. Wether it's on the highway , roads , or stopped at a light the car is always in the 186-196 range. I live in CT so it is cold right now. In just curious why the reverse and inching forward to squeeze into a spot makes the temps get that hot. I have every cooling mod as well, mishi slim fans, mishi x-line radiator, new thermostat , mishi radiator hoses, 50/50 coolant and a standalone module that runs the fans based on temp. Like I said I'm not too worried right now because every other scenario the temps are at normal. The fastest speeds I've seen is 85 so far and again temps are well within range. This isnt WOT to 85, just getting to 85 during normal driving on the highway.

Did you have that mishi set up in the summer? Their slim fans claim 2200cfm for both fans but I don’t think that’s accurate, maybe if you had a shroud. I had their slim fans this past summer and it was getting over 230 so I switched the p/s fan to factory with some trimming of the factory shroud. It didn’t get that hot even during autocross.

I had the slim fans only and I also saw 230+ on the highway. That's when I switched to everything else mentioned above. Then that dropped to about 203-206. Normal driving anywhere would be around 186-193 depending on weather and traffic. This was this past summer. I also cut the black peice off the front bumper to get more airflow

I'd try bleeding it. If you have a spill free funnel, use that and let it idle until the fan kicks on with heat on max.

The fans are always on. I have an independent module that controls them. Even when the car is shut off the fans continue to run for a few minutes till it reads it's cool enough to shut down. What I dont understand is why this only happens when I'm backing up and moving forward in my driveway to get into a parking spot.

Possibly an air pocket. So just let it idle with the heat on max until both radiator hoses feel about the same temp with the coolant cap off to get any trapped air out.

If there was an air pocket wouldnt I have issues driving or being on the highway? I don't get what backing up and going forward does to this thing. After I'm done getting into my spot it lowers itself back to normal. Could not being properly tuned have some effect ?

I don't think that has anything to do with the tune. If the car is moving, then you have air flow pulling heat away.

I'll get it looked at soon. Just very confusing . Once I get it snug in its spot it goes back down. Why wouldnt it continue to climb or atleast stay at its temp. It goes back to normal . So weird.

Yeah that is strange. Not saying you definitely have a small air pocket but it’s something you can simply rule out

207 isn't really out of the norm. MAYBE??? a few degrees high for a cold day and with your fan constantly running. Honestly wouldn't worry about it now until hotter weather rolls around.

I'm not to worried either. I was just curious if anyone maybe had the same issue . Before I parked my eclipse at the end of the driveway so when I got home, I would just let it run for a few mins then shut it off. But now its winter and I'm not driving it so I park it at the top of the driveway since it's the least car used. So I've never had to back it up and move it forward to get it into its spot. So this is just something I've never noticed before.

I do not think you have signs of overheating. Is your cooling system still OEM stock. These are the different operating condition from the FSM for the 2G turbo fans and may be of some help for you. The ECU controls the fans & speed on 2G's.

I've mentioned in previous post that the fans are not controlled by the ECU anymore. When I put a FMIC I had MAJOR overheating issue. 230+ . All the cooling mods brought everything to normal, all mentioned in previous posts. I'm also not concerned at this moment. I'm just curious what would make the temps jump that high when the car is just moving inches back and fourth but in any other scenario its completely within normal operating temp. It's just weird

I could experiment and turn the heater on full blast the next time I have to park and see what it does .

It’ll definitely drop a few degrees. You’re pulling a good amount of heat.

Probably just because the car isn't moving enough and your making power with it to move it around.

I would say the fans are not pushing the same amount of air as the OEM ones.

I had this kind of problem going on in my 1g years ago because the connector would intermittently loose connection to main fan and didn’t find the problem for awhile because it was intermittent. I ripped the entire cooling system apart wondering why my car would overheat

I would compare airflow from the OEM one to the slim one by connecting them and feeling it or use a piece of paper in front of the car to see the flow.

Could be, but like I said before every other driving scenario is totally fine. So I'm not to worried since it's only when I have to park in my driveway. I drove it again yesterday and had zero issues. When it came time to park in my driveway I blasted the heat. Stayed at 200 while parking. Then kept dropping. I also found that this hose was resting on the gauge reader. So I moved it over . Will see if this couldve added to my issue.
