The other day I was driving down the road I looked down to check how much gas I had. I noticed the temp. was increasing. I pull over pop my hood see some coolant leaking, the hose attached to the bottom of the radiator had come loose. My friend came with some tools we tightened the hose back on and started the car temp. looked normal until I accelerate the more I push on the gas the more it went up. If I let off the gas it goes down. Heater also blowing cold air. We changed the thermostat and it is still doing this???? WHAT COULD IT BE?

I am having the same issue with the overheating. Check the coolant temp sensors. Also, since u changed the thermostat, check again to see if it is properly installed. I had my thermostats changed as well during the engine installation a few days ago, and now the coolant temp goes up and down, even has false readings at times cause no way in hell does the gauge read higher than high yet no boiling of the coolant, and engine doesnt even seem overly hot. It also will go up pretty high and then instantly fall back down, up and down up and down..like its malfunctioned. However, i havnt seen any cooolant leaking.

What should I check for first. Last time I started the car I had the radiator cap off and I didn't see any off the fluid flowing through the hose  Is this something I can fix easily.

Double check and make sure the thermoesat to make sure it isn' t upside down. Also I would say replace it with a OEM because I've had nothing but bad luck with autozone, checker, and the type thermostats sticking aftet about 4 months. Also buy a new radiator cap. If the cap isn't holding pressure your temps will be all over the place. If you can't see any coolant flowing with the cap off 1. you don't have enough coolant 2. More likely the thermostat is stuck. Should be easy fix.

If these do not work, could it be the water pump? when i went back to my girlfriends house there was a big long streak of whatever was leaking. I refilled my coolant when I got back home. I don't know what to do?? also is there a way to tell how the thermostat has gone bad??

You need to fill your car up with coolant, let it warm up to operating temp and see where the leak is comming from. It could be comming from a number of places. The obvious being any hoses that the coolant will pass through. It could be comming from your water pump, or from the head. Thermostats are so cheap that it's just as easy to spend 5 bucks and replace it even if you have the slightest suspecion that it is bad.

We did change the thermostat. It is like the coolant doesn't flow properly? I took the radiator cap off and started my car There is no coolant flowing through that hose. What would make it do this? I haven't seen any other leaking since we changed thermostat and did a test drive.
