ok, so i have it installed, this time no leaks! and im pretty sure there isnt a boost leak (hence it might be over boosting) and had a question. i DONT have a logger/ecmlink yet, and not sure what its running, nor have the cash even for a boost gauge yet. i took it out for a much needed spin around my housing, and i know the stock boost gauge is unreliable, but i did the bcs mod, and just after 3k rpm its already topping of the stock gauge! it pulls really well too, not bad for not being ran in a while. i havent taken it in any other gear than 2nd, im in housing, and it has bad plates, so no cruising on hi-way. i heard stock boost is 10psi..im topping gauge out, or sweep is bad.

If your going by the stock in dash boost gauge, DO NOT RELY on it. get a true tapped boost gauge, and go by that, I doubt your overboosting at stock boost levels, and minimal to no mods, the bcs removal mod, will at most gain 1-2 psi.you should be fine, but get a boost gauge

i will try to soon. even if its the cheapy sun pro down at autozone (man do i hate them! they dont even offer 10% military discount at that shop) and just plain suck. but i will try to get it going. maybe i could use my vac/boost gauge tool, just adapt it and see whats up.

DO NOT RELY ON THE STOCK BOOST GAUGE, mine was off by like 3psi I think...

There aren't any numbers listed on the gauge itself so how can you say it was off by xpsi?! It's based off of voltage from the ecu from the sensors on the manifold. It takes the voltage and takes it to the needle on the stock gauge and moves it up and down. The only thing it's good for is just to show you have some sort of airflow moving past the sensor.

LOL! well it does have numbers, 0, 7, and 14. my gauge is topping out quick right off of 3200 rpm all the way up top, so either the sending unit is bad, or im boosting the heck out of the engine. either way, i need more money...like we all do.

The stock gauge is no where CLOSE to a real boost gauge. Don't worry, running WG pressures is perfectly acceptable. Stock with the BCS it is around 7 psi, but when running WG it is around 10 like you said, so you probably noticed the difference, and it probably made the car much more responsive. Get yourself a boost gauge, an MBC, and a logger and start turning boost up until it you start running out of fuel. You will LOVE it.

im already loving what i have now! its freakin sweet. it wont shift into first very easy, i think the synchros are on their way out. but its still has a lot of go. but yes, plans are (as long as everything checks out) to get ecmlink, socket my ecu, get a holset someday, run e85 with 850 injectors, and call it a day (oh i forgot the 3" tbe) but i have a ebay knockoff bleeder style mbc. not sure if it even works, but it was 15 bucks. took it apart and put teflon tape on all the fittings and checked it out. was a little dirty, but until then, i keep it stock for now.

oh yeah, when i bought the car first ride home it was slow, turbo was hosed, chewed turbine wheel and what not, busted exhaust mani, and didnt have any boost...its night and day now. totally responsive!

First generation dsm's have multiples of 7 labeled on the stock boost gauge unlike second gens, but as everyone already said, it doesn't matter since the stock gauge sucks.

Have you adjusted your shift linkages and made sure all the bolts that hold the cables are tight? Skateboard mod? I had the hardest time getting into second until one day I lost 2nd, 3rd, and 5th. The bolts for the shift cables had come undone. Fixed that, adjusted the linkages, and it's great now.

The only thing the stock gauge is useful for is a knock gauge after you've modified the code.

i will have to figure that out, knock gauge instead of boost..but no i have checked the linkages, they seem tight and good, and i havent done skateboard mod..but it goes into gear fine, it just grinds a bit and i have to shove it into gear and it meshes. i had a bad synchro on my daytona turbo z, it did the same thing...eventually i will have a nice tranny put in. i have a little while to play with car, hope i get my promotion i have been trying for...

As for that boost controller, I truely believe that if your on a budget, the nxs motorsports one is the best way to go. Very simple and its only $15 if you tell him your a member on here.

yeah i got the 14b and the stock boost gauge was tached out.so stock sucks donkey dick.

Im just gonna roll it because no point of buying a good gauge when the rest of the car is stock

the guy on ebay right? i thought about getting one of those, but this mbc i have sucks, too many hoses to hook up...i wish it was just 2 like the other ball & spring types, boost pressure and wga connection. maybe i will get one of those too, and a gauge. the cheapy sunpro for 29 bucks is ok for me til i get enough to scrounge up for the phantom II's or the other black face/red dials from autometer.

Only one cure for that... START MODDING!!! Parts aren't nearly as much as they used to be and if you look enough you'll find complete steals.

yeah but with wife, 2 kids, and military, pay is ok, but just enough to get by. i have been looking and wishing. holset, e85, ecmlink. i could have had ecmlink, netbook, and innovative lc-1 for about 300 bucks cheaper than brand new, and it was all bnib guy had bills...but its not october 2nd, and i dont have 5700 bucks sitting in my acct yet... and my vac/boost tool, only goes to 10psi...oh well i tried..LOL

Your boost gauge is one of your most important monds. Especially when your stock. If you plan on going e85, get at least 1050cc injectors. Changing the boost gauge to a knock gauge, you do that through ECMLink and there are a few other options you can change your boost gauge too also. I recomend Jack's Transmissions. I have his stage 2 tranny and it's fantastic. The warranty that comes with it is out of this world; 1 year, unlimited miles, racing or no racing. Basically you can beat it to hell and it's still covered because he has trusts his trannys. Which holset you going with?

where is Jack's Transmissions, do you have a number. That sounds like a great deal. I mite let my wife drive my car once with that trans in. I don't let here touch my car now don't want here to fu*k it up. How much for the stage 2 thanks

I Completely removed my bcs when i put on my punishment racing intercooler kit and although i dont have a boost gauge, i hooked up a vacumm pump/ fuel pressure gauge and it read 10 at a low rpm pull and it read 15psi on a hard pull in first

Are you using a manual boost controller ? Do you still have a boost source nipple like the original j pipe o the turbo ?

and my vac/boost tool, only goes to 10psi...oh well i tried..LOL

The tire pressure gauges that are round like a gauge and some have a tire around them are jus gauges with 1/8" npt threads, the valve part unscrews an there like $6. U could use that. Most read 1psi increments. Advance,az, even walmart sells them around the airtools section. mayb this helps...
I use them on air regs to chk fmu's an things.
