Outlander big brake GS-T

I recently picked up a set of outlander front calipers and brackets from my local pick and pull. I was curious to see if anyone has them on the stock 2g GS-T wheel. I did not buy the rotors so I cannot test fit them myself.

The caliper/wheel clearance can be test fit, checked without have the rotor.

Thanks. I didn't even think to bolt on the bracket and caliper without the rotor and test fit it. If anyone is running this setup, I am just curious if it has good clearance for a semi-daily driver before I order rotors and pads.

Have not heard of this brake upgrade. Most dsmers go with the evo brembo swap.

I've been running this setup for 2 years now. Its night and day compared to the stock setup. I've always had and issue with the way the stock setup felt (crappy braking power) but when I did the 05/06 outlander swap I was in "Brake heaven"! Swap was ez as pie and easy on the wallet (gotta love car-parts.com):

For those who dont know or haven't heard of this, you're welcome....

To do this swap, you will need:
05/06 Outlander caliper brackets MR307282 and two piston calipers (Outlander calipers use 2G style of brake lines, so 1G guys will ether have to use 93/94/GVR4 calipers with these brackets or do some creative plumbing, to adapt the lines)
05/06 Outlander rotors (stock shields will have to be bent back)

I have the outlander rotors on my Awd. Considerable improvement in required braking effort and feel. The only downside was getting the brackets. I hunted for them online instead of buying them from JNZ, but after all of the work to clean them up and prep them for install, I should have just bought them new.

The brackets are kinda hard to find. Check your junkyards, they could be had cheap there if you can find an 05/06 Outlander. You can buy them from JNZ, but they're fairly expensive. I believe Rockauto also has the whole caliper assembly(caliper+bracket). So if yours are in need of replacement that's a good solution.

The Outlander caliper uses the same line style (banjo) as the 2g. So it's the same caliper.

I bought my brackets from newegg, not sure why they were selling car parts. Just look around for parts number: MR307282

This upgrade uses the same caliper so you don't have to upgrade your MC...

Got both sides left and right calipers with brackets included $50 total (just checked my old invoice, I'm a hoarder )....$15 each side and $20 shipping, no way I was going to buy them new when I can get them in great condition at that price. http://www.bandwsalvage.com/ but again I found that site through car-parts.com...This site is a god send, I don't even bother going to local junkyard any more. Local yards here is a damn rip off they were charging $75 for each side. Not sure what JNZ is charging but $50 shipped both sides is a hell of a deal in my book.
And YES!!!!! Totally worth the time and money for this upgrade, you will NOT be disappointed.

I was saying that there is considerable improvement, not that it needed improvement. There's no need to move to a larger MC because we're not changing the volume of fluid inside the caliper needed to actuate the pistons.

I recently did these on my 1g AWD, I run them under 99 eclipse n/t OZ f1 wheels, seem to have good clearance.

Anyway, these are a whole lot of brake for the money. I went from late 1g awd big brakes with hawk HPS pads, to these with HAWK HPP pads, and holy f***. It takes almost no pedal pressure to lock them up. I only drag race, so I don't know how they will do in a lapping situation, but the pull the car down from 130mph pretty well.

Last bit, the later outlander rotors are a bit thicker, and inside cooled, unlike the 05/06 rotors. I'm running them, and it's the thickest rotor you can fit in these calipers. You might need to clearance the brackets a bit by cleaning up some casting flash. The bracket to rotor clearance is TIGHT, but it's a much better rotor. I'm using the bosch quietcast from OH-f***bags, and they seem good so far.

bastarddsm ...you stated that it takes almost no pedal pressure to lock up the brakes, are you running a different master or what kinda prop valve. I really want to use these brakes but dont want some crazy lock-up ... any ideas on what could help fix that issue.

I will be using this on a mild Track day car that is no trailer queen , see plenty of hwy /city miles in between track events.

it's not crazy, but I had some cheap pads in it for a bit before I did the outlanders, and I think I was used to how much they sucked. With some time it's not so bad, but I could see it being an issue if you panicked.

You could also use the rotors from an Evo 4, they're the same size.

Yes please elaborate. This would be extremely useful to the community if we could update the BiggER brake thread how-to.

this. i have a 3g master/booster combo with my outlander brake setup and it feels nice and linear, until you put some real force to the brake, then you want to be careful.

i believe i got the 05-06 outlander rotors, mine are quite thick and center vented in the front. my rears are actually from the outlander too (dont do this, its pointless and costs more than its worth, just get whatever stock style rears you like) and are solid style.

bastard- are you saying the newer outlander rears are center vented? if so, i need to find a set of those, kinda like the early 95 rears.

For the money, not worth it. The front rotor are just a hair bigger than gsx and the rear are the same rotors as gsx- 2g

WTF um....i spent 600 for everything brand new, and thats a significant size difference vs the 1g awd front rotor...
ebc rotors front and rear, centric calipers F/R, 3g master/booster, RRE stainless braided lines F/R...on and some brake fluid. the braking performance far surpasses my freinds old gsx with stock stuff. so yea, id say for the money, thats a STELLAR upgrade.

if you dont know how to shop for things then sure, you can definitely blow your budget.
