Options on Transfer Case

I've recently discovered a huge hole in my xcase and wanted to go over my options.

A) Send it in to transmission shop to get welded up
B) Buy a 97+ xcase(kind of hard to find used)

I know the transfer cases have a different gear ratio in the 97+ models.

So far these are the only two options I can think of.

Thoughts?

If the cases are the same you can just buy a t-case from another year and put your gears into it. You can probably order a new section of the case from the stealership too. Repair might be the cheapest route though. Where'd you get a hole at?

On the top where it is closet to the block/pan. I was unaware of being able to switch gears out of it.

I have a case out of my 98 GSX id be willing to sell. The bearing and internals are bad but you can swap all your stuff over. PM if interested

Are you sure it's not the breather hole?

yes I'm sure. Transfer was punched when rod let go.
