What would be my options for eliminating the power transistor? I have tried used ones but still think there is a problem. If I am going to buy a new one then I just as well spend more if there is a better way to improve the ignition.

Get a stand alone ECU and set it up to fire an MSD box.. or if you're good you can build your own from F type mosfets IIRC. There's no simple way to just get rid of it, it fires your coils and if you tried to do it direct from the stock ECU you'd fry it in a heart beat

When I say eliminate the power transistor, I am looking for options to "upgrade" as I think this is a part that a lot of people have trouble with. Myself being one of them would just like to know what some options are. Would it be a cdi ignition, cop, or anything of that sort. MIdsm, that is interesting but I would want something fairly simple if possible. I dont like to get into too much wiring allthough I can.

Slap a COP on it and hide the transistor under the intake manifold. That's the cheapest way to lose a lot of the ignition eyesores.

I am not worried about "eyesores". I have a cop and it works but not like it should without a cdi. The power transistor is also part of the reason the cop didn't work great I think and is why I want to find a way around it.

Transistor works fine for everybody else with a COP. Maybe you've got an electrical bug. You have your transistor grounded right?

I am on my second power transistor and still seem to have a slight miss. It is bolted in the stock location. I have new ngk wires, new bpr6es plugs also. The cop did not seem to be any better than the stock coils as far as the miss. I may just go with a cdi like the dynatek.

I had issues with plug wires always grounding out, switched to a cop setup and it completely disappeared. Check the insulation on the wires, might have worn away.
