so a pretty good buddy of mine just scored a 02 lancer. im not talkin Lan Evo im talkin just plain 'ol lancer. like OZ Rali or what ever the hell its called. my friend is hell bent on boosting this thing. its a single slammer. i beleive engine code 4g94. my buddy wants to throw a hx35 on this 140k mile stock engine/automatic.

i came across some info of a 4g94 double cam head. does anyone know if that double cam head is a direct replacement of the single cam head? i think a hx35 thrown on this high milage single slammer is gonna just blow somethin to peices:p

anyone have any experience boostin a single cam lancer?

In all honesty, if he is thinking about a hx35 on stock internals he has no business even trying to bolt the parts on.

Realistically he should be looking at something more along the lines of a turbo that flows similar to a 14b or 16g at most. Personally if I were him, I'd go with something tiny like a T-25 for insane spool since he isn't going to make much on stock internals.

Those motors are made for gas mileage, not boost. He needs to go about this with the same approach as boosting a NA DSM.

*edit* Forgot to mention, those motors have cast iron blocks. You CAN buy forged internals for them, so if he is going to do some research and go about it the right way. Even though it isn't a performance motor it can make good numbers... with proper supporting mods of course.

You can swap a 4g64 in there even though its taller than the 94. There's a little more power but not much. Just read around other lancer forums and check out what other people have done

i have a perfect condition 14b turbo just sittin here. i tried to offer this to my buddy as a more reasonable way to boost it. he see's these "ebay" hx35's that are brand new and actually pretty cheap. as far as i know this guy is for SURE gonna order a 35. i'll be the poor sucker helpin him peice all this together :) i just know that big of turbo with those kinda miles on the engine is just askin for disaster.

bad bad idea. And it shows his lack of knowledge. Ebay turbos are known, without a doubt, to be junk. Holsets arent expensive anyway.
He needs to look into more than worrying about a SOHC being the issue LOL. How about forged internals THEN wory about fitting a DOHC on there. I dont know much about the engine mounts, tranny, but i would say a 4g64,if it fits, would be much better choice.

i agree, but if this actually happens in the next month or two ill most def keep updates on how long the single slammer lives befor the hx35 kills it :)

i have a 03 es lancer with 4g94 engine. in middle of head swap its a 4g93e dohc swap. using a speedcorps turbo manifold and evo8 16g turbo.
alot of parts are made for this thing. just got to look.
