ok, i just did almost an entire repair on a car that was trasshhhy as hell. anyways i put full clutch assembly on it and new coil pack, new refurbished ecu and flywheel. anyways, let me tell you this before i tell you more. my clutch when i first got the car (orignal clutch) would grab and grip quickly and efficiently. but now that i put a new flywheel and clutch on it (my mechanic did it) it now will not grip when i upshift instead it does a VROOOOOOooooooOOOOOOMMMMMM VROOOOOooooooOOOOOMMMM VROOOoooooooOOOOOOMMMM. imagine the capital V being a high rpm beginning shift from 1st to 2nd, 2nd to 3rd, and 3rd to 4th. the capital M being the high rpm upshifting point. now the capital O is where the clutch is trying to engage to match the engine and the capital R is where i let off the clutch to grab. thing is, as you can see, it takes a while for the clutch to activate and except in first gear, none of the other gears "bark" or "take all grip" to the wheels. instead its a high rpm then when let off clutch, still high rpm but as i gain speed the clutch seems to be catching. its acting as if the clutch is going through a "first gear takeoff" thing. thats exactly what it is like going through all the gears and it stinks because i spent 1grand on repairs and labor for it. oh and when he put the new clutch, flywheel, ect in it. it use to let off the ground when i first got it (the clutch would engage all the way at the floorboard) but he put some kind of spacer in it so that it would let out at the top which is giving me the conclusion that: because my clutch petal can only go so high and because he put so much of a spacer on there, my clutch, in turn, is not fully activating. what do you think? i need input please thanks alot!

Either remove the shim from the clutch fork ball and adjust the clutch rod or leave shim in and adjust the clutch rod. It is located between the pedal assembly and the clutch master cylinder.

And take it easy on the new clutch. If not, you will trash the disc at a minimum.

how long will it take for me to run that clutch kinda rough. its stock clutch assembly. my friend drove it and it did that slip thing through all gears except for first and when he got done driving (110 mph down 2 mile of road) you could smell the clutch burning. ive only had it done for about 3 weeks and ive been really easy on it and stuff up until now. and one time with me driving really really easy, it decided to slip while i was in fourth for 6 mins and then go back down to appropriate rpm. wtf i hate this thing, its giving me so much trouble but if i can fix it to how i want to then it woould be fine but until then its pissing me off!:beatentodeath:

check the clutch master cylinder, and the slave cylinder. I didn't read anything about whether or not you replaced these two items, or at the very least pulled the boot back on the slave to check for fluid? Were those two parts in good shape? Did you properly bleed the clutch lines? And you guys were goin WAAAAAY too fast on a new clutch. You need to be doin' 300 miles of AROUND-TOWN driving, not floggin' the thing.

After you verify that your clutch master and slave cylinders are in good shape, and that you've bled all the air out of the lines, you'll need to re-adjust your clutch pedal. Did you check the shift fork for wear? Was it in good shape, only showing normal wear patterns?

i dont reckon that the mechanic checked my master and slave cylinder. but my clutch fork looked good. but i drove about 500 miles on that new clutch taking it easy (shifting at 2 grand) but yesterday he just plain out did it in. it made me mad but he said that its normal. is there any chemical in my engine that could leak on the bell housing that would cause it to be slippery?

If your rear main seal was not replaced at the time of the clutch job, I'd say its possible that it could spray oil all over your new clutch.

But seriously, adjust the clutch properly and you might find you don't have any issues at all. Provided the disc isn't toast already and you see no sign that your rear main went.

And if you were inferring that "its normal" for a clutch to smell and slip. You should slap that guy and never let him touch your car.
