I've been toying with the idea of buying an old school type safc. The one with the knobs. The main reason is stealth. It will keep the smog nazis away, I can stuff it anywhere in the dash and also wont draw attention from these little thieve bastards that break into cars. What disadvantages would I have tuning wise with this tool.I am new to this tuning thing and have always relied on bolt ons for power. This will be for a street car.I am planning on upgrading to some evo 8 560's or FIC 650's, but i wanna weigh out my options on a piggyback system before i do.

I'd say your better off buying an AFC 2 and sticking it in the glove box then using that thing. People have tuned cars with it but you don't have to make it visible. It's got a long enough wire that you could almost put it anywhere in the car.

Depending on your mods and/or plans, you could always buy DsmLink. It doesn't have to be hooked up all the time, just whenever you want to tune.
