I know this has been talked about but i wanna see everyones ideas. 1g intakes, which ones work for a FACT? We all know about the K&N filter but i've has some people tell me the stock filter is better because the K&N bogs the engine down. And what steel pipe intake pipes will work if you clamp the MAFS on the end of it and which is the best? I've heard that theirs some honda intakes that work the best but what do you guys think and where did you get you intake pipes? lets let this thread keep going so if any in the future has a intake question they can just read this one and they'll know what works and what doesnt. :thumb: :talon: :dsm: :laser:

injen makes one i know that not dead sure where to get it tho and also there is an e-bay one which i have that makes a big filter that th e mafs fits in is a neat set up. im gonna be selling it in a few months tho for the injen because im getting the gm maft :laser:

I recommend the intake from Injen though...... because I am using it also and it is fine. If the engine of your car is 1.8L, go to http://www.eautoworks.com and check it out. The injen intake for 1g eclipse 1.8L is currently on sale.

If you haven't already removed your stock intake resonnator box, you can cut the front of it to form a slight "scoop." This, in conjunction with removing as much metal as possible from just behind your driver's side headlight (a "free mod" that is detailed in our own Tech write-ups pages) and a self-made heat-shield blocking off the intake, will get the temperature under-hood, right at the intake, just about down to ambient whenever your car has any forward motion at all. This can be easily verified with even a pair of Radio Shack bought "external temperature" probes.

If you like to have even more fun with a Dremel, on the 1G, making a true CAI w/ your own plumbing is pretty easy as it's truly a direct shot down to the driver's side wheel-well. Removing your stock intake resonnator will easily reveal this path to you.

To the best of my knowledge, there have been no dyno data on various intakes for the NTs.

I have not had trouble with just about any aftermarket intake system for my 1G NT (2L DOHC engine). I honestly don't know what any of the "bogging" talk is about for the K&N filters, although I did experience rather erratic idle after I did the canister-hack mod. After some fooling around under the hood and about a week's worth of general driving, I discovered that my idle would only turn rough when the second cooling fan turned on. After I fabricated a block-off plate (which is also highly recommended and is VERY easy to do due to the abundant under-hood space with which the 1G NTs have to work with), this problem went away.

Does any one know if that injen intake for the 1.8 works on the 2.0 N/T? what other intakes have been tryed and work?

I have an ebay intake on my 1st gen eclipse. my intake is actually for the 2.0 but fits the 1.8 as well. I ran into som fitment problems trying to get aroubd my battery box, but was easily fixed with some cutting. I also am using a new stock filter since the filter that was sent with the intak doesnt fot the mafs. Now with just that i notice a diff, its nothing major but there's alil more push to its go. Less hesitation in 1st and it picks up mid way through the gears. All that from a cheap ebay intake.
