Does the intake pull from the valve cover? Or does the valve cover pull from the intake?

The vacuum from the intake pulls the water vapor, blow by, etc out of the crankcase from the valve cover.

And fresh air is brought in through that line that connects to the intake. When you are WOT and there is no vacuum in the intake manifold, some blowby can vent to the intake and get sucked in if it needs to.

Correct, under certain conditions the fresh air line going to the intake tube "reverses", either letting fresh, filtered air through the VC toward the intake manifold, or under low vacuum/boost conditions it will pull from that line into the intake tract, as the pcv will close during those conditions.

I was mainly asking because I was just gonna throw a microfilter on there and get that hose out of the way. But I guess it's there for a reason. Therefore, I shall leave it alone.

I thought about doing that. But I'm not packing tons of boost like some of these guys so that's something to worry about farther down the road.

I understand I did see some guys putting a 90 deg fitting and running it closer to the VC for a cleaner look
