So here again with another problem on the 1990 gsx. Just did a head job on the car, new head with bronze valve guides, brian crower springs and retainers, fererra cut valves, 3 anchor valve grind, cosmetic mls h/g (im old school so yes it was copper sprayed) and ARP headstuds with final torque of 85ftlbs with supplied lube. Got my timing belt issue figured out, took the car around the block a couple of times easily to make sure it was running right. Everything seemed good except for a little bit of a stumble at low rpm's (almost willing to guarantee this is due to one of my plug wires being cracked) . After taking it back home and checking everything out to make sure its still good, I took it out one more time to get some boost going on. First gear at 15psi felt ok, 2nd gear was good until about 5800rpm it spiked 20lbs, started smoking from the engine bay, and shut off on me. Got out to check it out and found that the dipstick had popped out so freaking hard it actually dented the inside of my hood. Lost about a quart of oil through the tube. Now, there are no problems anywhere else as far as I've gotten. No smoking from tube or valve cover, absolutely nothing except for the dipstick tube. I am just curious as to if anyone else has had this problem, what caused it, how'd they fix it, and what else I should look for. This is the most mysterious god damn dsm I've ever worked on. (By the way, car had to sit for like 2 minutes before it would fire up again) . Any and all help is greatly appreciated guys and gals.
