I need some help here. I put a new timing belt on and I think it was too tight because when the engine was started it started to make a whining noise from the timing side of the engine. I ran the engine for 4 miles and noticed I started to leak oil from the lower timing cover. I retentioned the timing belt correctly and now I still am getting a whine from the oil pump area and I'm still leaking oil from the lower timing cover? :barf: Is my oil pump shot??

FYI, I got a Greddy Timing belt and I have no balance shaft as my block is a fully built 6 bolt. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

This oil pump has been on the car for 3 years and counting. I think its sealed well enough. And it never whined until after the timing belt change.

Mine is doing the same exact thing. I thought it was the timing belt is on to tight but we haven't loosened it. Let me know what you find out

are all the pulleys at the proper torque?
When you removed balance shaft was it done correctly?
Is the engine turning correctly with no stress?
Did you replace tensioner?

Just stuff to ask yourself.

3yrs isnt really old for a oil pump. Ive known cars that have gone more than 200k on the same pump.

I know what my problem was and it was the balance shaft belt tensioner pulley was to tight. I loosed it up a little and it was good to go.

make sure you put back in that flat spoked nut thing. i left it out the first time i did my tbelt and oil pours out....
