OK, I am trying to get the front cover off of the engine to remove the balance shafts... I have it all off EXCEPT the oil pump sprocket (that the timing belt turns to operate the oil pump)..

Now, the bolt holding it in spins along with the sproket... so, I turn the bolt, the sproket turns... no dice.

What is the jedi mind trick to getting this thing off so that I can remove the oil pump sproket and the front cover???

FYI: This is on a long block I bought, and there was no timing belt on it to hold the sproket in place...

Thanks guys...

Dunno if the oil pan is still on or not but grab a wrench and put it on the balance shaft. Then you can crank with gumption.
