oil psi gauge question

ok i know most people upgrade to a aftermarket oil pressure guage. i had a idea thew other day when i was looking at the stock sender. it seems relativly accurate for comparing one car in different conditions. maybe it isnt consistent between cars but whatever.

the question is how to make it respond faster instead of having that long delay to keep the guage smooth. anybody think it would work to drill the hole in the end of the sender slightly bigger? as long as i dont hit the internals i think that would work and then it should respond faster unless the delay is in the cluster.

any thoughts? id rather not mount another aftermarket guage

I doubt it'd work in the way you're seeking. The needle's driven by a bimetallic heater, and the orifice probably regulates the driver in the sender so that the bimetal isn't over-driven and melted, or wharped so that it loses its accuracy.
If you want instant response, go to a mechanical gauge. However, bear in mind that monitoring of oil pressure isn't necessarily of use. If the pump's healthy and the system is clean, things are fine. Bazillions of very happy motors are being whizzed around by clueless grandmothers on a daily basis, and for decades at a time. And they hold up just swell. Their only hint is the lowly "too late" light.
Measuring oil pressure at one point in the lubrication system won't tell you that #3 big end is running hot.
