My oil pressure, when heated up is around 6-10 psi (usually lower then 10). What do other people have, I read a few forums but posting in here since I believe the turbo might change it. I do have a slight kink in the turbo's oil return line. Not sure if that is what is causing it to be lower then what it should. It doesn't drop below 6 and the average bounces between 7-8

A small kink will not cause the pressure issues you describe, if you had a leak that's a different story...

What oil are you using?
What oil filter are you using?

How many miles are on the motor?

Motor was rebuilt 10k miles ago. I run 10-30 by Castrol. Oil needs to be changed and filter. It has a Hasting filter. Also I am not certain of what the place is for the oil feed for the turbo but the device that measures the oil pressure is connected to it. Its the brass fitting in the center of the photo included. Should I add a little more then it has one the dip stick? Also any better brands of oil/ filters I should get?

If the motor was built on the loose end of oil clearances, you may need to run a heavier weight oil. BSEK installed incorrectly would cause pressure issues. The list goes on.

Looks like a lot of moist areas down there? Are you loosing any oil (having to add any to top it off)? How long has the oil pressure been this low (since the build, recently)? Do you have a BSEK installed? Was a new oil pump and gears used during the build. If so, what brand?

P.S. I spy a breather filter coming from the valve cover. Its not your biggest issue at the moment but reading this thread will shed some light on it.

I will read that thread later. I put the breather on since I heard to try it since their was a rattle. Didn't work, I assume it involves the clutch and will probably post another thread about it. The motor was rebuilt by the previous owner. I purchased the car from a small car lot(shady people I don't want to deal with again). It also has a small oil leak and believe that is from the valve cover(another reason why I am trying the breather). I want to change the valve cover gasket, assuming it wasn't sealed. I will try the valve cover gasket and then try a heavier oil if that is a good idea. To stop the leak. It is also moist do to me taking the coolant hoses off since I just changed the shifter cables. Also their was a leak wear it lost coolant down their(fixed).

So we are just assuming that the same shady people actually rebuilt the motor?

Heavier oil will not fix a leak. However, if your low oil pressure is cause by loose clearances, a heavier weight oil should bring the oil pressure up. With that being said, you will need to check the pressure up to redline to insure that you are not over oiling your motor.

The “breather” actually does nothing more than collect the oil that would otherwise be blown out. It to will eventually become soaked and start to drip. Instead of the gases being sucked out through vacuum, the crankcase pressure must overcome the filter + atmospheric pressure. This defeats both purposes of why you installed it.

Ok, the shady people did not rebuild the motor. The previous actual owner. One of my friends actually knows the guy and knows when he built the car. I did try to find out more about what was done about the rebuild. However he moved do too personal trouble with the law. I don't know where.

I will check the the oil pressure at redline then. I still want to fix the VC. It was slightly loose when I got it and tighten it down. I however still see a slight bit of oil appear around the bottom of the gasket. Another reason for the breather that I forgot to mention. Somebody said to try putting it on too since my VC was loose. The breather originally just had a cap over it when I got it.

Move your oil pressure sending unit to read off the oil filter housing, bet you have a different reading.

With the oil pressure sender tapped off the back of the motor, I too see a lower oil pressure once the engine is warm and ran for a while. I was told this is normal. I see about 6psi at idle after a long drive time. 40psi cruising. 10w30 Royal Purple built motor.

I don't have both balance shaft and used the new oem front case with the matching oem gears and oem stubby shaft. I still don't know why I see the low oil pressure light flicker on near the 750rpm at idle after it gets fully warm up and driven around for a bit. But, all I did was just bump up the idle closer to 900rpm and didn't see the oil light flicker on as much at idle. And I should really get an oil pressure gauge like you.
