I bought and installed a Carbon Fiber 0-100 Electric Oil Pressure Gauge:

i wanted to know how long of braided stainless steel lines will i need to install my oil pressure sending unit to my firewall? 3 feet, 6 feet?

The oil pressure sending unit looks to have a 1/8 inch male fitting, it also came with a 1/4 inch adaptor/fitting. would it be wise NOT to use the 1/4 adaptor under the theory "one less part to leak/break/fail"? i need to know that so i buy the right feed lines.

other then tefflon tape, am i missing anything for the remote install?

P.S. should i bother grounding the pressure sening unit body with an extra wire to chassy or is that overkill?. Autometer recomends the idea.. so..

Thanks.

sorry guys, but their really isnt anyone in this little town that can answer me without say, "uhh, well, typically, theroretilcy" so im counting on you guys to pull through on this one for me.

3 ft is plenty to the firewall

sorry, what i would like to know.

is the T fitting size 3/8 for oil filter housing. i cant find the answer anywhere. im looking to you a T fitting off the filter housing, connect the stock sending unit back in, and use steel braided hose to send the oil to the autometer oil sending unit i mounted to the firewall.

* I cant seem to figure out the Tread type and fitting size on the stock sending unit (without taking it off and messuring it)

* any clue what AN size braided steel lines are best to use? 2an, 4an, 6an?

I'm not sure of the thread size, but use 4AN line. :dsm:

im going to have to take that ####er off aint i. CRAP. i've heard through the grapevine their 3/8. dosnt make sence becasue Japanese dont use standerd size, only metric.

A+ on the 4AN!

can i choose diffrent fitting sizes on both ends with Braided lines? or will i need to find a male fitting to fit the line?

Are you trying to tap in to an unused port or are you tapping in where the factory pressure sender or switch are?

The plugs for the unused ones are 3/8" NPT and the factory sender is like 1/8" NPT or something like that. You could take the sending unit to a hardware store and match it up to the correct fitting if you are unsure, but the Autometer sender has the same fitting as factory.

I wasn't aware there was an untaped oil supply feed near the housing. i was planning on tapping a T off the Factory Sending unit location.

thats what i'll do then. just take the Autometer Sending unit to the hardware store and find the fittings. along with some tefflon tape, thread locker, and 3 foot 4AN braided lines.
