Okay here's the scoop. Brand new motor, bottom end assembled at machine shop. The very first start up went fairly smooth other than a slightly high idle, and slightly low oil pressure. Eventually after a couple other start ups, the idle started dropping (around 5-600 rpm) and oil pressure followed. To attempt to solve my oil pressure issues, I got a OFH off of another motor, completely unported, and switched to rotella t 15w40. I figured at least if the OFH wasn't the issue, adding thicker oil would bring it to normal oil psi range. Well, when I started up my car earlier, my wonderful luck kicked in, and mechanical oil gauge read no oil presssure after like 1-2 seconds. Shut it off immediately. Tried one more time, same thing. Put my stock oil pressure sending unit in thinking my mechanical gauge wasn't working, no oil pressure reading. Though, throughout all this I don't recall seeing the dummy light come on. And on top of all my oil pressure issues, as soon as I start the car, it revs to abou 1200 and immediately drops to 500 rpm, and barely stays on. And yes I did gas it up to 2k and saw the oil pressure do nothing.
So my question is this, why did my oil pressure get worse (lower) when adding thicker oil??? The only hunch I have is that either my oil pump is dead, or balance shaft bearing isn't blocking off oil (I had a BSE done).
Tomorrow I'm going to give the machine shop that assembled my bottom end a call, and have them give me the specs in which they assembled my rods.
Please, any knowledgeable opinions would be greatly appreciated. The feeling of dumping thousands of dollars into this car, just to discover I have all but no oil pressure is such a sickening feeling... I have a brand new motor, which knowing my luck, is trashed, and all the money and time is gone to complete waste. This is literally the most depressed/pissed off I've been in a very long time
