I am going to get an oil pressure gauge and was looking at the greddy 52mm gauge. I was wondering if this a good choice for my car, and is it an easy install? Does everything I need come with the gauge or do I need a bunch of adapters etc.?

its pretty easy the kit will come with a sending unit that you can tap in into the same stock location. If you want you could T off where the stock sending unit was at so you can have the stock one and the greddy one on the same port. Also yes the kit comes with everythign exept the brass fittings if you want to go that route. You could also just take out the stock sending unit on the oil filter housing and just put the greddy one in. But then you wont have the stock oil pressure guage working.

The Greddy oil pressure gauge is a very good unit, I have one. If installing it in the stock location, you'll have to be careful routing the sending wire. I installed mine on the head.

is there something wrong with the stocker? aftermarket oil pressure gauges are worthless IMO

Aftermarket oil pressure gauges are worthless? I've always heard the exact opposite "the stock ones are worthless", as they have no actual values on them. That is the reason why I was going to replace the stock one. I wanted to still have the stock one work so I guess what I need to do is get a tee and tap in on the oil filter housing where the stock sender is located, this would be the best spot?

well worthless might be an exaggeration... "un-necessary" would work better... sure it would be nice to be able to see the gauge peak out at WOT with an aftermarket but as long as i know i have pressure, im happy...and im cheap so thats part of it....how high does the greddy unit go? if you can get one that goes to 150, get that one...

They have the Greedy 52mm on Ebay for $140 so its not a bad deal. I thought an oil pressure gauge would be the best gauge to get to fill up the last hole I have. These are the gauges I have so far: Boost, Volt, Air/Fuel, Egt and a fuel pressure gauge in the engine compartment. So should I get the oil pressure or is there something that you think is more important to monitor?

stock ones don't show actual pressure they are ecu generated, the stock one won't show changes in oil pressure like an aftermarket one will, if i drop 10psi suddenly i wanna know because that's the bearings on their way out, stock one won't shot you anything but "somewheres round the middles"

but its still going to be pegged when you romp on it, the stocker wont  daren_p, sounds like you got your gauges covered, might as well get one...but make sure if you get a mechanical gauge, that you have gone through EVERYTHING at least 3 times...i dont need to tell you how bad it sucks when burning hot oil starts shooting around on your interior and your face :p

Ya thats why Im going with the Greddy unit, it's electronic. Don't want to take the chance with a mechanical gauge. Lots of people use them & have no problems but Ive seen what can happen from a friends car, and no thanks :p

if you install it right with the copper line and not the ### nylon crap that comes in those kits you won't have problems, ran it for 3 years

Autometer's mechanical oil pressure gauges start at around $40. And if you use the braided line w/ AN fittings (like nitrous kits come with), then you dont have to worry about any oil messes in the cabin.

There's only one reason why I like aftermarket oil pressure gauges better than stock. I like to see the needle point at a number, not dead space. I dont want to know if it in the middle or 5/8" from the bottom. I want to know if it's 50 PSI or 70 PSI.......

Why would you not like an accurate gauge telling you one of the most important pieces of info you could know about your motor?

My '93 with balance shafts still in has 10 psi at idle and picks up around 10 PSI for each 1000 RPm so at 7k rpm I have around 80 psi. Mark

IN my 1995 GST
the oil pressure runs about normal but if i get on it about 80 90 and goes up is that normal? and if im going 30 it goes down alot? just don't want to end up blowing my motor but is it normal to go up the faster you go? i have a crack in my valve cover gotta get that fix would that have anything to do withit?
:dsm:

Yeah, higher speeds require more presure to keep the engine together. I said I get only 10 PSI at idle and around 80 psi at redline. Mark
