Oil pan bolt trick..

The bolt i'm talking about is the one directly above the axle. The other 2 above the axle you can get to just fine. It's the one that you damn near gotta pry the axle out of the way to get to. Getting it out wasn't much fun but doable. Now, getting it back started is another story.

I don't wanna drain my tranny, pull the wheel, pull the hub/knuckle assembly out, just so i can pull the axle out of the way. Anyone got a trick to get that damn bolt back in?

No real trick... I've done both. Prying the axle out of the way and squeezing my fingers about the axle and using a box end wrench. You just have to work it out, unless you pull the axle. :thumbdown You did unbolt the bearing bracket bolts, right?

I've got the bolt OUT. i'm trying to put it back IN without a lot of fuss. I've pried the axle out of the way as much as i can. Still can't get it started. Screwdriver can't get the right angle to get the bolt started.

Anyway, that's the least of my worries.

-I never need to pry out the axle, I use a 10" 1/4" extension, it fit between the oil pan and the axle just fine.

You did unbolt the bearing bracket bolts, right?
